    Re: mom of 3

I keep falling off the diet, but lastnight I sat down read a lot of the book, and got myself more well educated on the Phase 1, so today has gone good so far. I hope that by May I will be a couple sizes smaller because we have a family wedding that I would like to get a nice dress to wear to. And a friends wedding in October, and that one, my husband is the bestman, so I REALLY want to look nice for that one! Plus summer camping and what not will be much more fun, thinner. Good luck, this site really helps me want to stick with it, thank you!

But nothing has worked for me otherwise, and I've even considered lap-band surgery, because I have 80-100 lbs. to lose. I'd be happy with 80 though!
          Good Luck everyone!

Atkins gets a lot of bad press because people don't have a clue about it - they think they know but it's not the facts. During induction you break your addictions to food and drink -- then you start adding back foods in a specific order only going to the next rung (or step) up when you know your body didn't react to it. The first time up the rungs I went up a rung each week not staying long enough to see if my body was ready or not -- of course I didn't loose weight but I didn't gain any either. I went back down and am slowly going up the rungs now. I am still loosing weight eating more food daily than I did a month ago, so what you have been told is wrong. Read some of the real success stories on the board, Mitzie, Sherri, Sunny_Smile, etc, etc, etc, these people are living proof with years of maintaining that the plan does work as long as you follow it the way it's written AND you don't start thinking you are smarter than Dr. Atkins and you can eat whatever you want.

It's a lifetime commitment not a fad diet. If you need to loose a few pounds quickly this isn't where you should be, this plan is for people who are serious about loosing and maintaining their loss. Each of us who makes the plan work is another person who goes out and let's the world know they are wrong - Dr. Atkins was right!

Good luck to each of you on your weight loss. If you want it bad enough you can achieve it!

I think its kinda funny that they point out if you eat the way that makes you fat, suprise, you'll get fat again. That's with ALL diets. Like if you lost on a low-fat, high carb diet, you couldn't gain it all back eating cake and cerial! I think its really unfair to act like people just have go back to eating poorly once they are thin again. The numbers prove Atkins has as many people maintaining on it as all the other diets do. Their diets don't promiss less people who regain the weight. Your chances of getting it off and keeping it off are slightly better with Atkins so say the follow ups. I've tried other diets, ground beef and broccoli and cheese, chicken with the skin and everything makes Atkins a winner for me. I'd rather eat like this and have soft skin and shiney hair. I looked and felt awful on low-fat diets. The complaints against Atkins are lame half-hearted attempts to keep people from eating whole real natural foods. They want to sell people franken foods. They are afraid more people will want to buy meat and veggies. After all, if people get use to eating natural foods, who will buy eggbeaters, rice cakes, sugary cerials, and fatfree cookies?

My starting weight was 235 lbs and I'm trying to get to 130 lbs.

            1st mini goal: 145! met 12/09
            2nd mini goal: 140!
            3rd mini goal:135!
            4th mini goal: 130!

I drink coffee. I drink when I am thirsty. I am just a low carber. Not on Atkins at all!!! He has everything to do with my weightloss and nothing to do with it, depending on who you ask.
