  • Crochet - My Weight Loss Afghan

I crochet - all the time. After making afghans for everyone else in my life, I'm finally making one for myself. It's made up of squares, each square representing a lost pound. I just added my 20th square Hopefully I'll be adding more soon.

the squares are about 6", so right now it's about 24X30. When I hit my goal - it will be pretty big!

don't mind a bit - please post pictures! I've always wanted to quilt, but my house is so full of yarn, it would be hard to start buying fabric

I love the idea! I wish I was better at crochet... I have one blanket that I've been doing single stitch on for YEARS and it's still not done... I need to commit more

Thanks - it's going to mean a lot in the long run!

hint - you'll only get better with practice

I started crocheting when I was pregnant with my son [now 22] - and was immediately hooked Now I make numerous afghans every year - for graduations/wedding/birthdays - etc. I also am constantly using up old yarn and making scrap afghans. I try to sell these on ebay or craft fairs - or give them away as gifts. I also make little wine bottle toppers this time of year - they are little hats and scarves for wine bottles - people love them! It's just a fun hobby and a great stress reliever for me!

I absolutely love crocheting...unfortunately, I can only do one stitch. DH bought me several books on it, but it's really hard to translate right hand movements to left hand. GRRR

Thanks - I never thought of that - I may try to do it left handed and see how it goes

Don't give up - it's such a fun craft, plus - you can do a lot with one stitch! I taught my sister and she only knows the single crochet - she makes blankets, dishclothes and mittens - and is perfectly happy with her one stitch....even tho I've tried to teach her more.
