  • CRAFTS: Ok what's everyone working on?

Right now, I'm working on a skirt recon for Sky, my 11yo. It's red and black and punk style. I'll post a pic when it's all done.

What are you guys working on?

K, I finished the skirt. The pic doesn't show the true red of the skirt, but you get the idea.

      That's adorable!!

I'm working on some crocheted wall art for my bathroom. I know - sounds weird, but I think it will be cool.

I have a ton of crochet thread and wasn't sure what to do with it. We also just painted the bathroom. Some walls white, some walls a soft butter yellow. So - I decided to create art with this crochet thread - chocolate brown. I've crocheted two panels - one says BATH the other says SOAP. I just finished them yesterday and want to put them in frames to hang. I'll try to finish them up today and post pictures!

I also made a matching 'doily' for the counter. Then put two of my grandmas old canning jars for qtips and cotton balls. I like it!

Great thread - I love any kind of 'home made'

Oh Barr, that sounds really cool! I'd love to see the finished product, how creative!

Not sure what I'll work on next. I WAS going to be my spring wardrobe, but guess what? I lost my pattern book, so that's out for now. I sure hope I can find it because I'm ready for some capris!

I also so primitive embroidery, and I'm working on the one in this project. I will not be using the same fabrics as these, but just the embroidery pattern. My daughter was sworn into the Air Force a few months ago, so I'm making it in honor of her....only, I am not sure whether AF Airmen are called soldiers too? If not, I'll just throw it in my Etsy, lol.

I also crochet, and have been making these. I've made quite a few pairs for friends and family. They are so warm. I adapted this pattern for little girls as well.

Ok--I think that's all I've got to say! He he!

Very cool skirt Kristi! I really regret not knowing how to sew. Such a great skill to have!

Barr-- I would love to see the end product too-- it sounds very cool

I'm a scrapbooker. That is really my ongoing project. But recnetly I started something completely out of the box for me. (I don't even think it is really a *craft*) I am refinishing an amish glider swing. It is in desparate need to be stripped, have some mold stains removed and be re-stained. I have it stripped and started the sanding. Next step, I bought some wood treatment to hopefully remove the water damage stains. It is actually looking pretty good, so I am hopeful!

kae - I've never 'really' scrapbooked, but I love the work. I have so many other crafts, I have to limit myself.

I would consider refinishing a craft. Please post pictures. I love old furniture.

Yes, Kae--post pics! I scrapbook too! Do you do it digitally or with scrappin' materials?

Barr--those are really cool! What a creative idea! Pretty!

Hi Kristi, yes, female soldiers are called soldiers. I used to draw. I used to paint. I used to sew. I used to make stained glass pieces. Now, I'm just too darned busy to do it. I am subscribed to an artists group - willowing & friends - a happy place for making art! - but right now with wedding planning and all, I just can't get around to it. Maybe some day. Right now I'm just ecstatic that I'm losing weight again. Yay!

No--I knew that. I just wasn't sure that Air Force Airmen were also called soldiers.

Thanks dear! I wouldn't want to make that mistake and insult anyone!

Honestly, I'm new at being the mama of a female Airman, so I really just wasn't sure. I wonder if I could just change the one word in my primitive embroidery project to two: "female airman"--that would be cool, yes?
