  • Ready for another go!

    DAY 1 - it's official!

I didn't break any new records when I started induction a couple of months ago... lol! So, saying I am in a stall may not be what to describe it.

However, I have an elliptical trainer now...woo hoo! ... and can now exercise along with my re-unduction and see if I can get my metabolism into a new mode... preferably "fast forward" ... ha ha!

I actually began induction today... I did say I would start tomorrow, but I have been so good today and went 20 minutes on my new Elliptical ... and downed a ton of water and liquid today.

Had hamburger without any bun, fish cooked in butter, spinach cooked in olive oil and garlic... 2 Cheddar Biscuits ( 2 net carbs each) ...so far. Will have something later tonight as a snack...but I think I did okay!

Good luck everyone! We are going to do this!

Is that the one made with coconut flour?

I am so glad you joined QueenSultana. This is going to work and we all can work on it together.

You had a better day than I.

              Re: Ready for another go!

No, Desertthorn, hon... no coconut four. Sorry. Thank you for the warm welcome everyone! (((BIG HUGS!)))

As to those biscuits.... they are like the Cheddar Biscuits served at Red Lobster restaurant. Seriously, except for being almost too light (they wanted to crumble when I tried to slice them open for butter) they were GREAT!!! Even my picky husband loved them.

Here is the recipe I used, (I cut the recipe in half for just hubby and me- and did add more cream to get it moist) which I got off the box of Carbquik (developed by Chef Gregory Prior CEC) when I purchased several things for baking and snacking at Netrition.com .

              Carbquik Recipe: Cheddar Cheese Biscuits

              Servings: 10
              Net Carbs Per Serving: 2
              Total Preparation Time: 10-12 minutes

              Ingredients:

              2 cups Carbquik
              2 ounces butter, cold
              1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
              1 pinch garlic powder
              1 pinch salt
              1/4 cup heavy cream
              1/4 cup water

              Instructions:

              -Preheat oven to 450 degrees
-Cut the cold butter into the Carbquik with either a pastry cutter or two knives, till the mixture resembles coarse meal.
-Add the shredded cheese, a pinch of salt, and garlic powder and blend well.
-Mix the heavy cream with water to equal 1/2 cup of liquid, pour into dry mix.
-Mix till dough forms and comes together, but do not overwork the dough.
-Drop the dough onto a lightly greased cookie sheet approx 1 ounce size portions.
-Bake in hot oven 8-10 minutes till biscuits are golden brown.

                Re: Ready for another go!

Today so far, I am doing okay.... just had some homemade chicken salad with shredded lettuce wrapped in a low fat tortilla. I have half the water down and it's only 4:00 PM.

*...so sloshing to the kitchen now .... slosh, slosh.... getting another bottle of water out of the fridge.* I am sooooo full of water!! I think I may pop! LOL!

I am doing the Elliptical every other day to start. Yesterday almost killed me... ha ha! It was my first day. I felt the burn in my leg muscles!

Hope everyone is having a great day. From what I have read, a couple of our "StallBuster" members have already BUSTED that stall! Congrats, DesertThorn and Sunny!

                  Re: Ready for another go!

QS, congratulations on the water guzzling and the exercise!

I'm a little puzzled though. You are eating Carbquick and low fat (or carb) tortillas on induction?

I don't think the low carb tortillas are permitted until OWL Rung 9... and I'm not sure at what level the Carbquick is allowed.

                    Re: Ready for another go!

Hi Well if Carole can have her yogurt, I guess Blue can have her carbquik. I didn't even know they made that any more. LOL, I'm going to order some as soon as I get out of this blasted Induction. GRRRRRRRRRRR.

                      Re: Ready for another go!

OOPsie!!! Red faced... I meant low carb tortilla... and... I was just trying to keep my carbs under 20 for the day and drink all the water and exercise every other day.

LOL! Ya telling me I am screwing up ALREADY?

*Grumbling and sloshing back to the fridge for more water* *grins*

I do keep saying I need to go back and read the book again. Ya see, I did low carbing before with Protein Power and kept my carbs under 30 without all the restrictions Atkins has... so bear with me for not following the plan .... I am old and get confused LMAO!

That is why I am here... I need gentle guidance.

                        Re: Ready for another go!

Atkins is a LOT more restrictive in the beginning. But by the time you get up the OWL rung they are pretty much the same, except I think that your fat/protein ratio is higher on Atkins.

If you want to brush up on Atkins, there is a lot of good info under the Atkins Phases section of the board.

You have most of it down pat... lots of water and exercise!

Lynne - I'm not having yogurt - I decided if I was going to re-do induction I would do it by the letter.

                              Re: Ready for another go!

WTG Carole! I realize I have a couple of hurdles to jump before I can say I am in a clean induction... my coffee is one of them. I am told to handle one hurdle at a time when trying to live a cleaner life ... so that is how I am managing things. Quitting smoking was the first. Losing the weight was my second, but now I need to give up caffeine... so that is one of my induction problems. I am phasing myself away from the caffeine slowly...this took the place of my cigs, ya know... ha ha ha! I am mixing decaf for the next few weeks with regular. I have cut out all wine. I used to have a glass or two with my dinner at night. So, I really am working on this .... trying!

In the meantime, I was on the Elliptical Trainer 20 minutes today (day 2 and didn't think I would make it...lol!) and then Champ, my Boxer, and I walked to the mailbox, which takes about 15 minutes... but, it was MOVING!

I am trying to get all my water in. (I was up 3 times last night for bathrooms trips)... so even though I seem to "slosh" around during the day (my edema) laying down does seem to help my kidneys remember to get rid of some of that water... lol!

Today all I have had is a chicken breast and "fake mashed taters" (cauliflower). I am ready to have a burger with sauteed mushrooms and green beans.

However, since this board is for those committing themselves to a true induction (as Carole is pointing out to me) I will refrain from posting again until I am 100% ready.

Happy Saint Patricks Day everyone and good luck to you!
