    Thanks for the invite. I would like to start doing Atkins again. My weight is currently at 168, and my goal is at least 145. I have been doing low carb and low fat and lost 12 lbs. so far, but I never seem to be able to get any lower than that. I am already past the sugar cravings, so that's a plus. I have everything printed out and highlighted as far as what to eat and how much. I do have 1 question though. I can have 2 cups of salad...does that include the cauliflower, broccoli etc that I normally add to a salad? That always did confuse me. I saw where I can have 2 cups of salad and 1 cup of veggies. I need a little help with clearing that up. Thanks again for the invite Lynne. It's nice to be back.

    Hi Mary Ann -- glad you joined us!! I personally count my salad veggies as a tossed salad with all the trimmings (I don't overload it but I have a nice colorful salad) -- then my 1 cup of other veggies I count as the vegetable with dinner. I'm sure if that's not right someone will let us know!

    Sounds like you are doing quite well to begin with...hope you can get over the hump and start losing again!

      Hi Mary Ann, I am so glad you decided to join us. I sat at the same weight for about a month and couldn't lose a pound so a few of us in the same boat started this, and we just keep encouraging each other. Seems to work, all of us have started to lose again.

      That other plan you were on really scared me. You will lose on a low fat, low carb, low cal diet, but your health will suffer and you won't be able to stay on it for very long. The gal that developed it is morbidly obese. Stick with us kid, you know it works...

      I'm really not sure about the veggies either, Carole's answer sounds really good to me. I think of lettuce is a free food, as one cup of shredded lettuce equals one carb, on the other hand red peppers are about 10 carbs to the cup, and broccoil is 5+ to the cup. Pick and choose carefully and you will be fine

          hanks. I think you're right. I think a salad counts as lettuce and veggies. Ok, I am working night shift this week. Here is my meal plan. I'm sure I'm not eating enough, but I don't get alot of time to sit down and eat a meal.

          B: (at 9 p.m.) 2 eggs/turkey sausage
          S: 6 pepperoni slices and 2 oz. cheese (longhorn)
          L: egg and olive salad (2 eggs/4 olives)
          D: 6 oz. orange roughy and 1 cup green beans (measured)
          Diet rite soda instead of diet pepsi and I have water.
          I never drink enough water.
          What do you think? I'm missing a salad. Is the turkey sausage ok?
          I know that Induction is to get rid of the sugar cravings. I am already past that due to the other plan I had been doing. Do I stay with Induction on move to rung 1? I need to but heavy whipping cream also. I drink Chai tea with is caffiene (that's a no-no). I'm ready for suggestions and all the help you can give me. I'm going to do this.
          I added my Fitday, if you look at it, look at tomorrows date. I go to work tonight (for tomorrow). I thought the calories were low, but they seem ok to me.
          I edited this because I added a salad to my meals. I think it looks good, but it took alot of planning. I don't always have that kind of time.

            Mary Ann you don't say how much fat you're getting in the day...hope you had some full fat salad dressing on your salad!! You say you don't have a lot of time to put things into FitDay -- after a few days of getting use to eating this way you'll pretty much know off the top of your head what values belong to what foods and you'll be able to find meals that go together and end up at or just around 20 carbs a day...I get a little off once in awhile but most days it's pretty close. Tonight I was going to have green beans and broccoli but went with asparagus instead because of the totals.

            Lettuce is always a good filler -- add some to both lunch and dinner -- even if you don't have anything else in it for one of the meals....it's ruffage and filler! If I have raw veggies with lunch I'll put a couple in my lettuce and call it a "tossed" salad because I "tossed" them in...LOL!!! You have to have a sense of humor!!

            Hope you keep doing as well as you seem to be now!

              The way the veggies are determined is on page 125 of the DANDR. There is a list of Salad veggies which you should have 2 to 3 cups of everyday. Then on the next page is a list of 'other' veggies which you can have 1 cup a day of because they are higher in carbs but if you eat the 'other' veggies, you must reduce the salad veggies to 2 cups. I hope this helps take some of the confusion out of eating right.

                I weighed myself today. I always expect instant gratification. My weight remains at 169. My calories for last nights meals were 1400. Is that too much? I don't usually eat that much. I'm so used to doing low fat, so this is a whole new ballgame for me. Any thoughts?

                  Give it time -- you've only been doing this a week? Stay off the scale until after induction is over. Make sure you are eating plenty of fats, you can eat as much as you need to up to the point where you feel full during induction....I make sure I dunk meat & veggies into Hellman's to keep the hunger moster away from my door and it works. I feel better as of this morning, my pants fit better this morning, that's all I need to keep going....next Monday I'll get on the scale and let y'all know what they say.

                  If you are worried about what you are eating why don't you post what you eat and we'll see how it looks! More than 1 pair of eyes is always better!! Drink your water, get moving and you'll see results...

                      My fats are a little high today. I have sausage on my food list, but haven't eaten any yet. Will that be ok? My weight is down to 166. I'm happy about that. If you look at my Fitday, you gotta look at tomorrows date. I'm working night shift and I pack my meals.

                        Just read the label on the sausage Mary Ann, a lot of it has fillers and corn syrup. Otherwise its fine.
                        Came over to congratulated you on the weight loss.

                            Today I transition from night shift back to day shift. I have my Fitday filled out with only a few things of what I will eat. I finished up at 7 a.m. this morning, and I have to go back in at 6:45 tomorrow morning. I slept most of today which totally messes up my meals. Between now and tomorrow evening, I will have my salad and veggies added in.
