  • Back in the saddle

I gained a pound this week, but this morning was my official weigh day and I had lost it again. So I am just maintaining the 2.8 pounds I lost the first week of my re-induction.

I walked two miles today instead of riding my bike, and STILL was hit with the huge appetite afterwards. I ended up eating over 2000 calories again.

One of the moderators suggested eating immediately after I exercise. I didn't today as I wasn't a bit hungry then. It was later when the appetite surged.

But tomorrow I am going to eat as soon as I get in from my walk and see if that will help.

I took my little dog with me when I walked today. He is out of shape, too, and our dirt and gravel roads hurt his paws. So I ended up carrying him part of the way. Carrying a dog UPHILL is hard... especially when it seems like it is all uphill!

Tomorrow we will stick to paved roads.

I wrote this in an email to my sisters and can't remember if I posted it somewhere on the board already. If it's a duplicate, just chalk it up to a senior moment!

    Re: Back in the saddle

Great news that you are maintaining your loss Sunny ... I wondered where you were all day, usually you have already posted where I post but that wasn't the case today...now I know you were out walking.

I'm glad Sadie doesn't have to be carried, she weighs 35 pounds and that would really be something to have to carry her - plus she's a wiggleworm which makes it almost impossible to even hold her.

Tomorrow is payday so when I get up I'll pay bills then go to the grocery store. We are almost out of everything in the veggie bin - I might be able to put 1 more day of meals but no more. I have the store ads and there are some great bargains this week -- one store has 16oz radish packages for $1.00 and you know how I love radishes!! LOL.

Hope you have a great day. See you around.....

Carole, I was out walking, but we also went to town, had the dog groomed and did some shopping. We live in a rural area, so getting to town is a big deal!

Sunny (my dog) is 11 pounds and he will let me carry him like a baby with his head on my shoulder and his little butt supported on my arm. But still, 11 pounds gets very heavy after you've carried him a while!

Lynne, that's what my neighbor suggested! I think I may look into it!

          Re: Back in the saddle

It's raining again today, so my cardio will have to be biking today instead of walking.

I made an attempt at blueberry pancakes this morning. All I did was take the mock danish recipe and add 2 T of blueberries to it, then fried them in a pan in butter.

They were delicious, but very fragile. I didn't take pictures because they fell apart.

I think the next time I make them I will add ground flax seed, which should give them a little more body.

I whip the cream cheese and eggs with my stick blender until they are smooth and frothy, so don't need to add baking powder.

            Re: Back in the saddle

Lunch was wonderful today! I finally got the flax seed bun recipe adjusted so it doesn't taste eggy and is almost like real bread.

This was my Italian Chicken Sandwich lunch!

If anyone is interested, I posted the recipe here. http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ml#post1049189

Also, I have started buying packages of chicken breast strips, freezing them individually on a cookie sheet, then putting them into a zip lock bag. So whenever I want just a couple of chicken strips, they are easy to grab and use.

I opted for a simple hamburger dinner tonight with mustard greens, pumpkin with pumpkin pie spice, splenda and cream cheese, lettuce and a dill pickle.

Sunny -- your dog weight 5 pounds less than the amount of weight you have lost so far....so your dog and a sack of sugar equals your loss...WHOO HOOOO!!!!

I remember the days of living where it was a big deal to go to town...I lived 30 miles from Erie, PA and 30 miles from Jamestown, NY in a village called Sherman, NY -- the village was so small we didn't even have a stoplight - we had a flashing light but it flashed yellow in all directions. Once a month on Saturday we went to Erie for all our big grocery shopping - it was almost like, pack a lunch Ethel, we're going for the day...LOL! I worked in Jamestown so I drove 60 miles a day .... I'm so glad those days are over!

WOW! What an encouraging way to put it! I can't imagine trying to carry Sunny AND a 5 pound bag of sugar now!

                  Re: Back in the saddle

Breakfast this morning was a blueberry pancake. This time I added flax meal and it solved the "too fragile" problem. Would have been nice to have syrup on it!

So today is the start of a new month. I am hoping to lose 4 pounds in April.

So today is the start of a new month. I am hoping to lose 4 pounds in April.

Sunny - I went to www.netrition.com and got a bottle of DiVinci pancake syrup DaVinci Sugar Free Syrups the bottle was $7.49 and the shipping wasn't outlandish - it's not bad but I didn't really have anything to put it on. Your pancake looks good - I have seen some pancakes that it's a stretch to call it that, but yours actually has a real pancake look!! Can't wait until I am on the berry rung again. The strawberries look delicious at the grocery store. I had bought some a few weeks ago when I was on the berry rung and they were great - funny how I use to eat strawberries, cantaloupe and watermelon all the time -- now they look good but not enough to really want them.

How are you doing today? Wasn't yesterday your Sam's run? We are going Saturday, but I just found out that is going to be another "eat your way through Sams with samples of lots of stuff"...I did real well last time they had one of those, I ate 3 shrimp, a small amount of real crab meat (not imitation) and a small amount of lobster in clarified butter. I left the starchy items on their tables - didn't even wish I could have any of them.

Ok - I'm going to get a shower and finish laundry.

                      Re: Back in the saddle

                      Hi, Carole,

Yesterday was the Sam's run. We enjoyed it. Always fun to get to the big city.

Today I had lunch with a friend and we spent the whole day shopping antique stores and health food stores... oh, and a book store and a coffee shop.

Usually when I go out to lunch with her, I am so tired after lunch that I have to come home.

Today I went for SEVEN HOURS!!! Then came home and fixed dinner.

We were both stunned at the difference the acetyl l-tyrosine is making in me. I have always been tired and low energy, even when I was young. I am tired now, but it's a well-deserved tired this time!

I found the small bottles of Torani sugar free syrup at the coffee shop. They didn't have anything that would go well on pancakes, but I did get caramel and raspberry. I will have to wait until next month to order it because I sent Mastercard a huge check this month and finally got it paid off. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lunch was great... a grilled shrimp salad, all completely legal. I did have 3 tablespoons of blue cheese dressing, but it was worth it for a splurge!

I managed to pass the samples at Sam's. Fortunately nothing looked real tempting!

I also got some of the non-sweet coconut at the health food store. Will very gingerly try that and see how it goes.

Oh.... I made the most awesome blueberry vanilla pudding last night.

I used one scoop of vanilla whey powder and cream, whipped it up together with a packet of stevia, then folded in blueberries.

It was so rich and delicious. I would never have known it was a diet dish if I hadn't made it myself!

I'm so happy you had a good day shopping and enjoying yourself. Good for you not giving in to temptation with the samples.

We're off to the store to get a couple things.

                          Re: Back in the saddle

This is my third day of not logging every bite I eat... and I am eating less and am more satisfied!

I think logging every bite kept me obsessed with food. Now I'm just making a conscious effort to only eat when I am hungry--then eating until I feel comfortably satisfied.

                          What freedom!

The three months of logging every bite did make me very aware of what I was eating, so that will stand me in good stead.

For breakfast this morning I had chicken breast tenders fried in coconut oil, a mock honey-dijon mustard dipping sauce (sweetened with splenda) and a small serving of zucchini pasta. Wonderful!

                            Re: Back in the saddle

that sounds like a good meal Sunny --- I'm not able to eat that kind of breakfast -- I need an egg or some sort of breakfast type food in the morning but after that I can eat just about anything.

Today was our Sam's Club run....just the hubs and I...mom stayed home to give herself a perm. We went to Home Depot, Lowe's World Market, Sam's Club and Walmart....I'm beat tonight. Got a rotiesserie chicken at Sam's -- we love them! It's like a ritual if we go to Sam's we have that chicken for dinner....yumm!!

Tomorrow we're going to put the patio table & chairs out - I am really hoping it doesn't snow anymore so we're going to live on the edge and put them out...LOL!

                            Have a nice Easter.

Glad you got out today. It always makes me feel better to go shopping, even if it's just for groceries and necessities.

I'm always beat afterwards... and also ALWAYS get a rotisserie chicken. It's an easy dinner and lunch material for a few days since there is only hubby and I.

I'm counting on the cold weather being over. This has been the coldest spring in a lot of years!

So I hope you get to enjoy the deck furniture from here on out!

For lunch I had deviled eggs, a handful of pork rinds and salsa. I KNEW I should have veggies and dip, but really wanted the crunch of the pork rinds.

For dinner I fixed parmesan fried chicken, turnip greens and pumpkin with pumpkin pie spice and splenda.

I am as satisfied as a little tick this evening.
