The storm is coming. We will be in the direct line of the eye if it doesn't change course. The refineries this area depends on are already shut down, which basically meant, whatever gas you have in your station, is what you will have for a few days now. Who knows when the next delivery will be.

I am the Floral Manager at my store, but I help in the fuel station too, and we have been shorthanded out there. That is the reason for the double shifts on Wednesdays. Once one gas station in town ran out of gas, word got around, and the population freaked out. My day at work was a nightmare of people jockeying into position, two cars trying to get into one pump from different directions and honking at one another.. and my personal favorite.. cars are 3 deep in line, and the 3rd car out wants to bring me the money for her transaction... Like I am going to be able to keep track of when the third car in line of pump 3 out of 8 pumps gets into position? I said, no, sorry, bring your money back when you actually get to the pump, or I will be completely confused. I had to tell several people that, but if I let them confuse me it will just take longer for everyone anyway.

When my replacement got there, I told her she was the prettiest thing I had seen in a while!

I like people.. I really do.. but the way they act when the world is 'coming to an end' is just not pretty.

I will lose power sometime tomorrow, no doubt. It is already raining, hours from landfall! I am on a hill so it won't flood, I am slightly worried about my trees, three big oaks and a magnolia, as we are forecasted winds to 60 mph. I have moved in all my blowable items and plants. We were nervous about Gustav but it tracked East and barely bothered us, but they say we aren't likely to get that lucky! Should be fun!

Best wishes to any other members in Ike's path!

My Atkins, though, continues to be a thing of joy and beauty. I am shrinking so fast I can barely keep track! 6 inches in my waist! 4 in the hips! And I feel like a million, I really do.
