So yesterday was a very sobering day for several reasons.
First, i'll get the non diet related stuff out of the way.
We took in a stray cat about 3 weeks ago. He was Pure white from head to toe, but not a true albino. I looked it up online and it has allot to do with white recessive genes and things that I don't know enough about and you don't care enough about for me to write it here. Anyway, he was a saltine cracker. Well, about 5 days ago his right pupil suddenly became completely dilated while the other was normal. This was obviously not normal. At the same time, I noticed that his left canines(ironically named) on both top and bottom of his mouth were broken off, almost to the gums. This was a new development, he didn't show up like this.
We made an appointment with the vet for yesterday and I searched online for the possible causes of the dilated pupil.
To get to the point, we found out yesterday that he had feline lukemia. He was put down. It was the only real choice. Sad enough in it's own right, but we have a litter of three stray kittens that have sort of adopted our home as theirs. They're not true strays, their mother "Boots" sort of adopted us when she was a kitten also. Somewhat of a repeating pattern.
Anyway, the vet told us that our other cats are more than likely fine, but the kittens will need to be tested, since they came into contact and ate from the same bowl and used the same litter boxes. That's a pretty hard blow. I'm not exactly Mr.InLoveWithAnimals, but my one weakness, my kryptonite if you will, is kittens.
The gestation period is apparently 4-6 weeks, so we'll take them in at that point. If they're old enough, we'll probably get them fixed and inoculated too. Yesterday afternoon was spent sanatizing our house from the unfortunate events.
Also, the vet told us we have to stop feeding the raccoons. They carry a dangerous pathogen in their stool that can be deadly to both humans and other animals. Not really a big deal to me, but my roommate didn't like that one bit. Her biggest hobby aside from the PS3 is feeding the raccons. Oh well, let nature take back over.

Sorry for that tirade.
Needed to vent.

On to the diet.

I'm loosing faith in the ketone strips. They seem to work completely dependent of the amount of water you take in. I drank well over 100oz of water yesterday and the clear stream of urine only registered as trace. This morning, a little color has returned to the stream, and moderate to large is showing again. I guess I should only test in the morning and only if I question my ketosis status? I know i'm still in ketosis though, because I haven't cheated. 2 days ago I put a cookie in my mouth, chewed it up, and spit it out. then rinsed twice with water. Just wanted to taste it. I know it seems silly.

Breakfast yesterday was a 3egg omelet w/3oz of shredded colbyjack and 2 panfried Cod filets in butter. Amazing just how much those filets remind me of snow crab legs when dipped in butter. Probably just the butter talking.

Lunch was a salad. 2 cups of lettuce mix, 10 olives, 1 cup cucumber, 2 tbsp dressing. I added a little buffalo wing sauce for a kick.

For dinner I didn't really get the veggies in that I should have. I had a bag of pork rinds and a diet rootbeer. I kind of feel like I cheated, but I didn't take in any carbs, so i'll live with it.

Scratch that. I just went back and checked the induction foods list, and both diet soda and bacon are on the list. Great!

The walking is still going fine. I think I'm past whatever alcohol withdrawals I was going to have. Feel better. My upper body is still sore from that machine, but that's how you know it's working.

Weigh in is monday. Can't wait.
Off to cook some eggs.
