My DH took me to a buffet steak house last night. My plan was to take only one plate for entree and veggie, one plate for salad, and have a peek at the dessert if no sugar-free jello forget it. Did ok for the first plate: steak, broccoli and cauliflower, shredded cheese and butter. Did ok for the second plate: green salad with mushrooms, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, caesar, cottage cheese. I say did ok, but seriously at home I might have had a steak with broccoli and stopped right there... or just the salad plate... but never both.

I sat debating whether to seek dessert, but didn't debate long enough. I went, and the jello was pretty nasty, little flecks of goodness-know floating on the top along with crumbs and such. Yuck! Oh but there was sugar-free chocolate mousse. I had it in my bowl with breakneck speed. Looked up the carbs at home, and a whopping 12 carbs per serving. While my serving was right-sized, it was simply unnecessary.

I wound up suffering from reflux, sad over so much bloat, and just not too happy with myself.

So today was much better... eggs, bacon, tomato, green pepper and onion for brunch... string cheese snack... cleaned house, cleaned the fridge, made cole slaw and fauxtatoes. Mercy sakes these are good:

1 head of cauliflower cored and split into florets and steamed with a clove of garlic for 20 mins
3 oz cream cheese
1 T butter
1 t. dill
1 t. seasoning salt

Process in food processor till smooth... a small dollop of sour cream and a little butter and parmesan and wheeeeeeee...

Seems we're having Thanksgiving at our place this year, not in Texas. My FIL and his wife are aging, and we're much closer. This... is awesome. Woot!
