Weird how those stubborn pounds cycle in then out and take another with them just like the pounds used to cycle in with weight gain and bring a friend with. My weigh in today was 244... two pounds up from last time. Yo-yo yo-yo...

Last night my DH took me out for Christmas light looking and to dinner... but had a yen for Long John Silver's. I asked if we could maybe go to Arby's instead since I know the ingredients for their beef doesn't include sugar. Nope he had a hankering. I decided to check out the grilled items. So glad I didn't have any because turns out they're loaded with sugar. Sheesh. I had a burger instead from A&W at the same counter, but darned if their beef doesn't turn out to have powdered milk in the ingredients. How dumb is that??? Burns my biscuits.

So it's best for me to just eat at home. I love this legume OWL rung. I guess I'm one of the few who can eat them without ill effects to my blood sugar... thrills me to no end. On the list today includes a ham hock to stew in some beans I've been soaking. Canned beans, on the other hand, are full of carbs. Weird, ha? Dried beans made from scratch it is, then.

On the financial front, seems we're going to be ok for the holidays as long as nothing goes awry. DH hasn't been offered interviews for anything other than insurance sales jobs similar to what he already has. My son has similar issues, but at least his unemployment is renewed for another little while... so I won't have to foot the bill for the taxes on the house he's renting from me. Times are tight, but manageable so far, and we have much to be grateful for.
