  • On Line Spice Stores

Does anybody know of some good websites to go to for specialty food items like spices. For instance, I know that New Mexico Chili Powder is all the rage but none of the stores where I live sell it.

I also had a hard time finding Nursey's black mustard seeds and darn if she didn't send me some!! But I'd really like to find a one stop shop for all kinds of spices.

I did a search for the NM Chili powder and I found a place that sells it reasonably but they don't sell other kinds of spices. SO, I'm turning to you dear readers and wonderful cooks for inspiration!!!! :joy

you know my favorite spice company does not have a webpage that I know of ..but you can call them and order!!! they do have a list they will send you...to be honest it has been a while since I ordered I usually just shop there when I go down ..or I buy in Canada where there are limitless spices available in Little India...but give them a call and have them send a list!!! the spices are cheap and above reproach!!!! the chile is very good (although I like the NM chile I buy when I go to Santa Fe in the fall ... this is really good as well)....

OH THANK YOU OH MIGHTY HOSTESS!!! Keep em coming everyone!! I am going to call them for a list. So much of the good stuff in Florida is underground! Can you believe it. It is so hard to find a good connection for good foodstuffs. I have a lot of little places I shop at for the things I love, but none have the spices I want!!

Thanks! I love that they are organic! They have the black mustard seeds too! Are their shipping rates outrageous? One place I found had the black mustard seeds for $1.98 a bag but shipping was $12 :yikes

Keep these links coming and we'll all have a lot of resources. This one doesn't have the new mexico chili's or powder.

So maybe there's a site out there that has it all!!!!!

I ordered maybe 10 different things and I don't remember it being very expensive? I did it through email I think. I just made a list of all the ones I wanted and she emailed me back a price. I still have a lot of them around the kitchen. They were hand packaged and looked like a great deal of care went onto hand labeling and such. I'm getting ready to re-order from her myself.

Penzey's has a very good reputation. I haven't ordered from them myself, but I know several people who have, and they have been very impressed by the quality.

Nullo! Awesome site. I am definately going to order from there. They are limited though to certain products, so if anyone else has another site they want to recommend we can really build a GREAT list of resources here!!

                Great addition, Thanks!!!!! :icondance

Double thanks Nullo. I've been looking for Zahtar ever since I moved to Florida. I found it on Penzey's! If you guys haven't had Zahtar, you need to try it sprinkled on Bulgarian Feta, with a little EV Olive Oil drizzled over top. I used to eat this with bread, but I'll find something else to eat it with now. mmmmmmmm

Hey Mindy, one more thing. If you have an Albertsons, they carry a line of herbs called Litehouse. I've used their basil, and it's freeze dried, and far superior to what you'd usually get when you buy dried basil. I used it when I made a fresh tomato, mozarella, basil salad with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and my friends thought the basil was fresh. I plan to try some of their other herbs too. Not sure if they do spices though.

We do have Albertson's. Will have to check out that line of herbs. Still have not found one online spice store that carries New Mexico chili powder and all other types of herbs. I will have to get the NMCP by itself, I guess!!

This is a great resource thread! Let's keep it going guys!!!
