  • Non Meat Eater Question

    Hi Everyone,

OK, its not me that is a non meat eater...I'm a carnivore for the GET GO.

Its my SIL who is wanting to try an approach that will help her get started on losing some of the weigth she has picked up over the last year, she has seen my progress and is most impressed.

She is basically a non meat eater. She will eat seafood, but none of that good stchuff like pork, beef, chicken and lamb.

Here's the question. I thought this board had a special section just for people who where non meat eaters, but I can't find it. Is there really one here or did I just dream it? Any information would be helpful, either from this board or another.

    Thanks
    Robin

nope no special section but there are people on the boards who do not eat meat ....was a pesca veg (fish eating veg) for 19 years and only started eating meat a couple of years ago .....I still eat a mainly veg diet and did an entire two week induction with out meat ....just to see if I could ...and you can do this diet with out meat ...but with out eggs and dairy it would be very limiting and almost impossible to do induction....

I eat vegetarian quite a bit, the smell of cooking meat is starting to turn my stomach. :no

Nursey is right, without eggs and dairy it's very limiting. Soy burgers and garden burgers are good, just check the label for the carb counts though! Some of them are way high in carbs while others are very low. Also, tofu is wodnerful, low carb and high protein! I haven't checked out the ground soy meat, the veggie bacon, veggie sausage or veggie lasagna that is made with eggplant instead of noodles either. Hmm.. sounds like I need to run to the store.

Yup, thats important! Most people forget to take a vitamin much less one with iron on a regular basis.

Well I spoke to her about what her diet would consist of for the next two weeks. Funny thing, she was cool about the fish/seafood/cheese..and veggies.

It was the alcohol she was having trouble with giving up for 2 weeks. I advocated decaff coffee/tea and water, no wine or spirits. She said, what could I drink..wine? I said no, but if you must, and do it in very limited quanties...it would be vodka.

Personally I think it was the alcohol that put the weight on her in the first place.

Oh well I do love her unconditionally.

I can relate. That was the hardest part for me as well. I just kept a big bottle of water in my hand though and kept myself busy. I made it thru the first few weeks. But, I added it back in and that is probably alot of the reason that I lose so slowly, so be sure she is aware of the fact that it most definatley will inhibit her weight loss! "No bout a dout it!" :yes

From my SIL email that I received several days ago. I wanted to share. Please bear in mind that the South Beach day fit her life style better than Atkins, even though I spoke to her about both. But they really are very close and a definite LC diet.

I'm doing great!!!! Lost 6.5 pounds since Tuesday morning. I feel
wonderful--not missing the carbs, alcohol, caffeine--anything. I look
forward to the fish, cheese and eggs. My plans is to continue Phase One
all this week and next week through Thursday. We're off to the beach
next Friday, so I'll move to phase 2 and allow myself that Red Wine!
I'm so excited--and I owe it all to you. Thank you for giving me the
tools and encouragement to get started!

That's great Mrslee. Hey whatever works is o.k. IMO.

But I have heard that SB is really not as close to Atkins as everyone makes it out to be. One of these days I'm going to read that book just to satisfy my own curiosity, but not until I can purchase it for 25 cents at a yard sale! LOL

                    MOG

LOL, yeah I know what you mean about the Yard Sale. I actually borrowed it and found that there are as many difference as similarities.

But all in all my way of thinking is that LC lifestyling RULES!

                    BTW

                    Down another 5lbs this week!
