  • What your favourite home made sauce?

    Hi
Now I’ve been on the Atkins for 4 weeks or is it 5 weeks the steak tastes a bit bland. I’ve tried everything I can with cream and am totally bored. Any recipes for a good Atkins friendly sauce to give it a bit of zing !

      Hmmmm...

The classic sauce for steak is sauce bearnaise, which is totally Atkins friendly.

If you're looking for mayonnaise based sauces, I did some experimenting a few weeks ago and came up with a nice sesame-ginger mayonnaise sauce. It worked well with an Asian-flavored beef wrap I had.

      Sesame-ginger mayo sauce
      2 tablespoons mayonnaise
1 teaspoon toasted sesame oil (or more to taste)
      1/2 teaspoon ginger powder
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon chili oil (or to taste or don't add if you don't like spicy)
1/2 teaspoon rice vinegar or lemon juice

Mix it all together. If you want a thinner consistency mix in a neutral flavored oil or use water.

The chili oil gives it the heat. I can find it in the international section of my grocery store or in Asian supermarkets. I'm sure if you experiment with the chili oil, mayo and even tomato paste you'll find something to your liking.

does it have to be creamy or do you like a bit of spice in your life you can try a home made pico de gallo

dice some of each fresh ripe tomato, green chiles, sweet onion, garlic, salt pepper a squeeze of fresh lime and a handful of chopped cilantro ..try that on your steak and you will be dancing for joy!!!!
