  • What Music Do You Cook To?

If you are like me (and you are, lol!!), you consider cooking to be a sensory experience and what better way to enjoy it than to have good music playing while you are prepping!

A great time to me is opening a bottle of really good wine, and sipping some while preparing a feast and having my CD player on the random mode.

So what do you enjoy listening to while cooking? For me its tunes by Nora Jones, James Taylor, even some Willie Nelson (off his Starlight Album only!!). Cooking is so soulful so my music has to be as well!! I love Larry Carlton for jazz, and any raspy voiced blues singer! Sometimes I even play music appropriate for the food I am making. It's latin acoustic guitar when I am making cuban steaks!!!!

I even have outdoor speakers on my pool deck so I can hear my tunes when I grill as well!

Share your tunes and let us know what music you love to cook by!!!

                  Great thread!!!!

Tickles Jamie Oliver reminds me of my youngest son (the chef son) he is darling ...and yeah we cook alike I get VERY physical with my food!!! Love to chop pound smash and toss everything but I do it to LOUD music with ..yup a glass of wine or beer!!! (not always don't want to gain wt again!)

it depends if I am making Caribbean food I listen to really dirty reggae, calypso or soca
if I am making Italian I love jazz or blues
if I am just in the mood to create something spicey and fun I listen to techno or heavy metal
for desserts I love mellow music like smooth jazz
any kind of Latin food ..gets salsa or Spanish pop
I kind of cook with a theme so the music has to match then I get on a roll and start jamming and creating!!!!....

my son makes me CD's for cooking he has a knack for lining up music that complement my food!!!!

I'm a classic rock girl myself, with a mixture of other stuff thrown in for good measure. It's more about the individual songs and if anyone ever got a hold of my MP3 player, they'd swear I was schizophrenic! :wave

I like my music LOUD, so I listen to it on my MP3 and it's funny because my dogs look at me like I'm having a fit or something because I dance while I cook, and they can't hear the music! :icondance :icondance
