  • snack ideas for on the run?

Hey guys, I am a relative newbie on Day 6 of Induction. I work full time and go to school full time, so even though I get to eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner pretty regularly, I also need a few snacks during the day to keep me going (I tend to prefer 4-5 small meals instead of 3 large ones--so I guess this "snack" is really a little meal). I usually have a string cheese stick, which is fine maybe once a day, and sometimes I have a Slim Jim, depending on my carb total. I have been eating pepperonis for my on the run snack, but really only want this to be temporary, considering 1)high salt 2) preserved with BHA and BHT.

So can anyone recommend a quick, easy to eat protein snack with 0 carbs? I do not like boiled eggs, btw!

Make your own beef jerky, its a great carry along snack.

    Pork Rinds.

Small cans of tuna or chicken (with the pop top, bring a plastic fork)

Carry one of those soft sided coolers and you can take along just about anything you like if you put a ice pak in it!

leftovers are always great little snacks perhaps a chunk of leftover steak or a cold chicken leg? a few slices of cucumber with some cheese or a homemade dip? a dill pickle rolled up with some lunch meat and cream cheese (these travel well btw). hth

I too prefer a few small meals rather than 3 regular ones. I work from home so it's easier for me..but when i'm on the road i usually pack either chicken, crab (make sure it's real!) or turkey salad, some celery/red peppers and dip (found great containers at the dollar store that have a little built in dip bowl), cheese strings, a flax muffin (can't rememer if these are ok for induction?) home made meat balls, roast beef and cream cheese 'rollups', i also love 'cheese chips' as snacks. basically you microwave little squares of cheese or piles of shredded cheese till crispy. i find 1-1.5 minutes is ok. Just watch your portions.
Celery stalks or pork rinds also make great 'scoops' for tuna/chicken salad.
