Re: Irish Moss
Isn't this the stuff that is in McDonalds (and other's) shakes and ice cream to improve the texture? We used to call them seaweed shakes! I've never know any individual to use it -- I've only read about commercial use. Can't wait to hear what you do with it!277/180/160ish -- started 7/28/03 --F

Re: Irish Moss
You know when i saw that in the link you sent i thought carrageen looked familiar.Originally posted by MotherOfGizmoSadie, its in a LOT of things but they disguise it by calling it:
---Synonyms---Carrageen. Chondrus. Carrahan.
Especially "carrageen", watch ingredients and see!
that jsut sounds so gross to me.Jen, 39, F

Re: Irish Moss
well it was kind of gross you guys!!! LOL I have to say and I love seaweed ..I made a custard dish out of it with lime and ginger ...sounded quite good until I decided to leave the moss in for added fiber....yuk it looked like maggots and tasted horrible!!!! I can see using it as a thickener for stuff and straining it but to actually eat that crap ...barf...thanks for the help!!!! but I am not posting this recipe that is for sure!!!
live and learn I guess!
