LOOK at this dried fruit salad! OMG! The flavor of each fruit is just awesome!! This, however was a large amount of fruit to start with. And I can see it being dangerous for me!! The next project is beef jerky that we have been doing on the smoker.

those are beautiful Barb!!!! look at the colors...wow!!!! but yeah I would be eating that entire bowl!!!! you can dry mushrooms in there you know they are pretty carb free and peppers tomatos onions but the fruit really looks fantastic!!!

Thanks for reminding me... at a local shop there is a sale on Argentinian steak so I'll dig out the dehydrator and make a huge batch of jerky

I dried mushrooms, and ground them into flour to thicken gravies and sauces. That worked out fairly well. I made jerky in my dehydrator and it stunk up the house so bad that I threw the dumb thing in the trash. My hubby and I were nauseated for days from the jerky stink. I hope you have better luck than we did.

Well, we make jerky on the smoker usually. So I am going to try a smaller batch and see how it comes out. I'll let ya know!!

I make beef jerky all the time in my dehydrator, and its yummy. I use the teriyaki sauce by Carb Options, and it has a wonderful smell and flavour. We always have a container of beef jerky around for those needy times!

I was thinking of buying one.

Boy that fruit looks wonderful! Definately could not keep that on hand or I would eat it. I would really like to make beef jerky though to have on hand.

Dont buy a new one bug go and look in thrift stores and yard sales..and check out www.craigslist.com I got my HUGE box deydrator at a yardsale for $25!!!!

Hey nursey! I've been told before to check out craigslist and never have. It's neat-o. I'll definately put that in my favorites list. I should check out the thrift stores near Lake Oz...rich people getting rid of nice stuff...works out well usually.

I live near two huge military bases that have wonderful thrift stores between that and craigslist I have furnished my kids house and part of mine!!! .....I love vintage!!!! .....craigslist is the bomb for sure!!! I also get rid of a lot of crap on there ...my trash is someones treasure!!!! one thing I love is that I find a lot of international cooking stuff ...around the bases....things that are dish spacific ...like the danish pancake pans and German cake pans....anyway ...cakes and pancakes made the low carb way of course!!!

Made jerky yesterday. It came out really well and actually didn't take as long as it did on the smoker! Lots less work and mess and $$ too! Woohoo!

I'm taking the kids to the local Kiwanis thrift store today just for fun. I'm going to see if they have any dehydrators. I doubt it because it's a really small thrift store but I'll take a look anyway. I've got some stuff I should put on craigslist. Especially some car stuff that's taking up a ton of room on the back porch. 2 Audi seats for starters!

try posting that you want one..a deydrator I did that with a fish ..posted that I wanted a big kissing fish for my tank and sure enough ..now I have "Kissy"!!!
