  • Pepperoni

    Hi Everyone,
I had checked the carb counter in my book and on the Atkin's web site but can't seem to find what the net carb for Pepperoni is. Can anyone suggest where I can find this information or tell me what the net carb for pepperoni is?
I would greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Check Fitday.com or the package. The pepperoni I use has 0 carbs but it does have nitrates.

I don't eat it much now. When I started It was a lifesaver as a snack food.

Yes, it is OK to eat pepperoni and beef jerky during Induction. Just remember to count the added sugar (read the nutrition label) as part of your daily 20 net grams of carbs.

You can find a pepperoni without sugar. I eat Boar's Head, it is very good. Also, I found a jerky that is filler and sugar free (most have both) by Scooter Snacks. They are a little expesive, but really good and a life saver on long car rides. HTH

They keep the meat from spoiling, they're preservatives. Dr. A says to try to avoid them because they're not good for you. Personally I don't worry about them, I've had the nitrate free bacon from the healthfood store and it was very expensive and quite horrible tasting IMO. You have to use it right away or keep it frozen too, because it spoils very quickly!

                  Re: Pepperoni

Someone posted that they microwave Pepperoni with cheese on top for a yummy snack so I plan to try that. They said it gets a little crisp around the edges.

My Pepperoni is ZERO carbs! It's Bridgford brand (the kind that comes in a stick 9oz and about a foot long). Sodium Nitrite is the very last ingredient listed and there is no sugar listed at all.

I don't put cheese on them, but I have microwaved them til crisp for a crunch snack, they're pretty good that way.

I microwaved some last night and they were GREAT! Next time I'm going to use the little tray that I microwave bacon on because there was a lot of grease. I was satisfied with less than I had planned to eat! YAY!

Tried these today with a bit of cheese on them. Definately crispy and chip like. Be aware...could be addicting.

The only thing with pepperoni is that if you eat too much...the scale might tell you so I remember years ago when I ate too many pepperoni chips and gained weight that week. Too much sodium isn't a good thing - HA!
