I bought some spinach in a bag today and it says I can microwave it right in the bag. Is this as good as cooking it on the stove? I've never made it either way and I'm tempted to try the microwave but not if it turns out gross. Thanks!

Never tried that microwaving in the bag thing. I rinse it, shake it, put it in a pan with some butter and cook it down. Oh and some salt. MMMM I love spinach. I love spinach and cheese omelets for breakfast!!

Do you cook it on high, med or low? I think it would taste better cooked in a pan.

microwaving spinach is faster then cooking it on the stove and if you don't cover it the liquid will cook off leaving it dry and brittle. you can do everything you can do except fry it in the microwave from wilting it to cooking it to a liquid mush state.
I like it sauteed with a little olive oil and garlic---Barbie, I love it in omlettes too! Especially with cream cheese and a little carb meat and or shrimp...man now I'm hungry.

Just let it get to room temp, add a tiny bit of cream and mix it up really good, you have to kind of put it in the omlette by scraping little spoonfuls onto the egg with your finger like you would with drop cookies you know. It is really really good w/ seafood and spinach! You gotta try it!

oh cream cheese in an omlette is teh best! try the smoked salmon flavoured cream cheese too.
Spinach question: i'm not a big fan of it..but found canned spinach last week at the store that can't be mentioned (only .79!). anyone ever tried it? i thought it would be good for omelettes or making creamed spinach. i need to add more veggies to my diet..i'm hoping to find a recipe that will make me love spinach.
Now my DS hates cooked spinach. But loves it in his salad. Go figure
By the way Sadie I love the slinky saying you have in your siggy. Too funny
hmmm i'm thinking i'm not gonna like the canned spinach then either, since i'm not a fan of fresh..but it's worth i try i guess! i hate cleaning fresh spinach. actually i hate cleaning anything, spinach, my kitchen, my bathroom, my floors
Someone emailed me that saying..it makes me laugh every time i read it!
Thanks everyone...got some good ideas going! I would love to try the spinach in an omelette...sounds goooood.
