  • Sugar-Free Flavorings and Extracts

I've bought flavorings and extracts from my grocer's shelf, only to find that they include corn syrup, rendering them useless to me. I found this website, which, not only offers unsweetened extracts, but something like 50 candy flavorings such as english toffee and root beer, all of which are sugar free (except the maple)!! This should no doubt enable us to take our creativity with Atkins recipes to new heights!

when using oils like these, how much does one actually use? Like if a recipe calls for a teaspoon of vanilla - how do you translate that to the oils?

Nurselady...do those flavorings have any alcohol, sugar alcohols, or artificial sweeteners in them? I went to their web site but they do not list the ingredients and I always want to know the ingredients before I buy. Could you tell me what the ingredients are, for the most part, for those flavorings, or maybe list the ingredients for the flavors you have? <img>

I'm a big fan of DaVinci syrups. http://www.davincigourmet.com/788.html They're made with liquid splenda, which has less carbs than powdered splenda.

My favorite flavors are toasted marshmallow and cherry, but I have more than 10 flavors lined up on the back of my kitchen counter. They can be used in all sorts of sweets (the Kahlua in whipping cream is delish!!) but in baking as well. I use the vanilla in cooking, and when making flaxbread I use banana syrup and my bread tastes almost just like banana bread. When I make crustless pumpkin pie, I use the maple syrup in it, and it gives it a great kick. But to me, the absolute best is cherry. Put it in a diet rite, and you'd swear you were drinking an old-fashioned cherry pepsi...

Thanks for the tip! I also found some great organic extracts at my local Whole Foods, but they were way expensive!
