  • Nitrate-free bacon without sugar?

For the life of me, I cannot find nitrate-free bacon that doesn't list sugar as an ingredient. I LOVE bacon, but would like to eliminate all sugar from my life, as I'm afraid of falling back in an addictive pattern. Any advice would be much appreciated! Thank you!

I understand that Trader Joes has it. Do you have one in the area?

Wholefoods has it too and most health food shops. At the health food store near me they keep it in the freezer section since it has no preservatives.

I can't find nitrate free bacon, but I can find sugar free bacon. Gwaltney black label and a local supermarket brand are both sugar free.

I do most of my shopping at Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, and my local stores do not have bacon without sugar. I will look in the freezer section, as MotherOfGizmo suggested. I must have my bacon with breakfast!

If its 1 or 2 carbs per serving I wouldn't worry about it. That is a tiny bit of sugar used in processing.

I don't buy the nitrate free cause I think it tastes like crap and is way too expensive. I have found that the bacons marked "lower sodium" tend to also be the ones with little or no sugar added as well.

Low sodium bacon? Blech. I love bacon precisely because it's salty!

My bacon says 0 gm carb per serving, but I will count the serving as 1 carb to be on the safe side. Thanks!

Its only like 25% less sodium, you really can't tell the difference. I'm a big salt freak so I wouldn't be eating it if it wasn't salty.
