My husband just suggested we go camping on memorial day! I've never been camping! I'm excited to go...wondering what fun food to bring along!

I'm thinking Weinee Roast! What else though...can't eat weinees all weekend. :confused

We used to go camping practically every weekend a few years ago. After the first few times hotdogs and hamburgers got pretty darned boring!!
It depends on whether you're going to depend on the fire to cook your food or not though! You could use a couple long skewers and just load them up with mushrooms, peppers, onions, meat chunks etc.... (one of my favorites!)
If you have a little tabletop bbq the possibiliteis are pretty much endless. Make up a big salad to last you a couple days and bring lots of snacky type foods in a cooler.

I like to take a couple of small steaks, season them and put some veggies on top. Then wrap them in aluminum foil and freeze them hard. You can put them right in your backpack and by the time you're ready to eat they have just about thawed. Then throw the foil wrapped packages into the embers of the fire (not in the fire itself) and the meat and veggies cook in their own juices. Yummy!

          I love foil!!!

my best camping tip is to cook in foil packets just put beef, lamb or pork cubes in foil with zuchinni tomatoes onions peppers whatever you like ...add seasonings/marinades you like and a little oil or a piece of bacon make them packages (use the heavy duty and double wrap) then set them by the coals or on the grate over the coals....I bring an oven thermometer to see if they are done but you can use a skewer or knife through the package for tenderness.....these are so good...and for the kids I used to make packets of fruit crisp but that is not induction friendly ....if you are on OWL and can have berries or oatmeal you can make them with out sweetener just berries topped with oatmeal and butter ....I imagine you can also use flaxmeal? breakfasts are bacon eggs and coffee! have a wonderful time you will really enjoy this adventure.....
          oh one more
          cordon blue
try to take a chicken breast pound it flat roll ham and swiss cheese tien in rolls and then roll in olive oil salt and cracked pepper wrap in foil and grill! have a wonderful time!!!

WOW! Great ideas! I am excited now! The preparation does sound like a lot, but I think I'll be fine! Any more ideas?
