  • Warning! May be to controversial

HA HA! Made ya look. But this is important world news.... I saw it on the BBC

So what are your thoughts about the EU's new ruling that FETA cleese can only be produced in Greece. A couple years ago (formerly known as) NL and I went to an ethnic grocery store in LA and they had samples of different FETAs and we both loved the Danish FETA, not as salty as the Greek. On the other hand, do I care if they change the name to Danish (or English or even American) "Soft-Crumbly"

ROFL Lynne you know I had to check up on you LOL

as Shakespear said that which we call a rose would smell as sweet by any other name so ask long as they don't mess with the carb count they can call it whatever they want.

you must have been out of the country when the yogurt cheese controversy occurred here and the FDA and USDA said is was just a soft unripe cheese and wouldn't let a canadian firm export it to the US.

My wife is Cypriot - she ain't too impressed. Cyprus is part of the EU and she too can claim Fetta.
Atkins didn't say 'Calories don't count',
      he said, 'Don't count calories.'

I don't care what they call it, just like I don't care if Champagne has to be called Sparkling Wine if its not made in Champagne. Tastes just as yummy to me!

I prefer Bulgarian Feta myself. French is good also. Who makes these rules anyway?

Well, I think it's just rude to discrimate based upon one's country of origin! (including cheese) LOL So is it still going to be called Feta? Or Greek Feta? I'm still looking for that frying cheese. Anyone know where you can get that in Ontario? Canada?

lol ladyinred! you have a point!

If you can't find the frying cheese look for this...

              Queso Blanco
This mild tasting cheese is the most popular cheese South of the Border--both for snacking and cooking. It is wonderful to cook with because unlike American-type cheeses, it will become soft and creamy when heated, but will not melt! With this cheese you can make cheesier stuffed chicken breasts, stuffed peppers, enchiladas and burritos! For a delicious, simple treat, cube the cheese and fry it on a hot skillet (recipe on package).

You can order it from here

You can also fry and grill PROVOLONE cheese. It comes from Italy? Argentina??? ... I don´t dare as I´m not going to talk with it
