  • Arrrrggg.... broccoli!!

I usually use fitday to count my carbs, but i was so suprised to see a huge diff in broccoli counts from fitday and Atkins carb counter....

    Fitday: 1 cup 1.97 net
    Atkins: 1 cup 3.4 net

    That is a HUGE diff.........

Naturally i like the numbers on fitday better, but i need to know the truth!!

What do you guys think of this? Go with fitday or atkins???

The fitday count for raw broccoli is 2 grams net carbs per cup.

That is for all intents and purposes identical to the Atkins count, which also bases it on uncooked volume.

Perhaps you looked at stats for cooked broccoli?

I have the Atkins Shopping Guide book. it says that broccoli is 0.8g per 1/2 cup raw, and 1.7g per 1/2 cup cooked, so the 3.4 you found was most likely for a cup of cooked broccoli.
Sorry everyone. I've had to abandon Atkins. After slipping up, I gained back everything and more. I fully believe in and support Atkins, I know it works, but it's too hard for me. I'm following my own plan now, exercising more, eating less in general and healthier, still focusing more on veggies and fruits and whole grains and much less processed junk and bad carbs. I still visit here occasionally, so I will keep my stats listed here when I do. I wish everyone the best on this program or any others that work for you.

My advise is to pick one carb counter and use that.

Go to a supermarket's frozen food section and get the numbers off a serving of frozen broccoli.

Sure, some companies fudge their numbers, but there is a lot more at stake if the label is wrong than if fitday(aka usda) or atkins is wrong.

The usda database are a bunch of hosebags when it comes to carb counts. I swear they pull these numbers out of thin air.
