  • Dry/Marrofat Peas Carb Count

Not sure if anyone will know this, maybe someone from Britain..I believe their popular there. But does anyone know the carb count of dried (or marrowfat) peas? They're not sweet like regular peas so I'm sure it's lower, though they are quite starchy. I know the GI index on them is low, but I have not been able to find the carb count anywhere?

We always have them with christmas dinner, but I'd love to have them at other times too, but not sure how much damage they do..they're one of my favorite veggies.

This site classifies them as 'dry peas' and the nutritional info is listed here

I've seen them in my supermarket under the Goya brand. But Goya calls them "Whole Green Peas". I tried looking them up on their website but they don't list the nutritional info for the product.

That's perfect MOG thanks! I searched all over the net and couldn't find anything...

The ones we buy are Batchelors, they don't have a carb count onthem, they actually cover it with a sticker onthe box that's impossible to peel off without ripping the box! I think that's because it's Eur. listings on them are different from ours.

I'm glad to see their so high in fibre, so they only have about 13g of carbs..though i'm sure i eat more than 1/4 cup . If you've never had them they're very very good. not at all like green peas..more like chick peas i guess. If you buy the boxed kind you steep them over night in a pot before you cook them. the canned ones are already steeped but i don't think they're as good.

I hope your Batchelors are the dried kind cause their canned ones have sugar in them
