  • Where to find flax

GNC? Walmart? Walgreens? and if at walmart, what section of the store would it be in? I'm guessing in the supplements/medicine stuff. I don't know of any health food stores in my area off the top of my head so i'm really hoping it isn't only in a specialized store.

also health food stores tend to be small Mom and Pop type stores, but they have the best prices. Make sure to check the phone book for health foods stores, you may just not have seen it! I think Walgreens should, and some Walmarts do. Call the stores and ask, save a little gas!

GNC should have it and will charge you a ridiculous price. I pay a dollar a pound or so for seed!

I got my flax! I thought it would be the whole seeds and I was going to have to find a way to crush them up myself, but turns out they are already crushed. They look pretty finely done, can I still make flax cereal if its like this? I assume it would be more like runny oatmeal hehe

I prefer a coarser texture, just make sure not to overcook, or you will get slime! 30 - 45 seconds will do it.

start with two rounded Tablespoons of ground, and work up to 3. Too much flax can be a shock. It will thicken when you cook it.

Drug Emporium, about 1.30 a bag (for seed not ground) and health food stores a flat dollar a pound, also seed. I was the same.. missed my oatmeal! Now I am happy!

I told Kibs via pm that I credit flax for my great complexion now and my nails of iron!

I ended up getting mine at walgreens, 15 oz for 10 bucks, which I think is a decent store price, because its going to last me forever at only 2 tbsp a bowl. I'm sitting here eating it right now! It gets cold fast :sadblinky and I think I put a little too much cream, but its VERY good. Almost like a bran muffin with cream or something. I'm pleasantly surprised. I feel guilty for having splenda on induction, but I need -something- to keep me regular! :anger I might try it without splenda tomorrow, with just butter and cinnamon.

Also meant to ask...what color are the seeds ya'll have been getting. I found a pic of flax seeds that looked similiar to sunflower seeds. But what I got was cold milled and dark brown grainy looking things.

flax seeds are so small! So probably the brown grainy things you saw! I like brown for cereal and golden for baking.

don't think that could be true at all...

Don't think the chopper will work. You need the high speed of a coffee grinder, about 12 bucks at WalMart.

If you want seeds, the label should just read flaxseed or milled flaxseed...
