I did do a search and started to feel even more queasy. I'm looking for something simular to a saltine cracker that I can stomach to help me through this morning sickness phase of pregnancy. I saw mainly flax cracker recipes. I'm a bit afraid to try it :nod . Any ideas for a pregnant mother? Thanks in advance!

Some health food stores carry crackers made from only wheat bran or only oat bran. Some of them have other things in them like whole rye flour. These would not be recommended on Induction, but if you're pregnant you should not be doing Induction in any case. These bran and whole grain crackers would be better choices than a saltine, which is made with non nutritious white flour.
Flax crackers really are pretty yummy. Give one of those recipes a try.

You can buy Wasa crackers at most supermarkets. You usually find them in the specialty cracker section (they usually put them near the Walker's shortbread and the Devonshire Melba Toasts in my supermarkets). Fiber Rye Wasa has 7 total carbs and 2 fiber carbs, for 5 net carbs. There are other crackers similar to Wasa, such as Kavli and another Nordic brand.
Mind you they are rather hearty crackers, quite unlike the more delicate saltines.
There are also some low carb Wasa like cracker recipes on the Net too if you want to give one of those a try.

I ended up going to the store shortly after posting and its funny, I came back with some wasa fiber rye crispbread crackers. I thought id try the cracker isle, low and behold I had no idea they even had anything low carb there. For so long I have avoided that isle :nod I really didn't want to get anything high carb because of the blood sugar, I knew it would make me feeling even more sick and jittery. The wasa crackers are pretty good, even my 2 year old was eating them. I did end up getting some sorbee animal cookies as well. 13 carbs per 10 cookies, They do have trans fats, but I was desperate. I did see some whole wheat, saltine type looking crackers there as well. I was unsure how they would effect my blood sugar so I passed on them. Thanks again for all your help!

Sashie, how far along are you? I'm in the same boat - due March 16th or so. Morning sickness too.
I'm working with a dietician now because I was in ketosis when I found out I was pregnant.

Heyas, Im 8 weeks, 3 days and due Feb 27, 2005. I haven't had my ultrasound yet so they are just going off my TOM. Im in the process of choosing a doctor and it sucks. :sadblinky Im hoping I don't get one like my last who was more into making money then making it a comfortable/memorable road for the patient. I too was in ketosis when I found out I was pregnant. We had been trying to conceive for almost 3 years and were just starting our infertility appointments when my pregnancy test came back positive. :joy I spoke to a dietician who approved my way of eating (Lifetime maint). I did not mention ketosis or Atkins to her since she is not my PMC (doctor). I've been pretty lucky so far with morning sickness, I had it everyday (actual vomiting 4-6 times a day) with my son for 4 months. I find it odd that my PMC at the time didn't give me anything to control the situation. It was my first pregnancy so I had no idea how it all worked. This pregnancy its only been every other day and controllable, usually in the evening (with an exception to yesterday). I went and got some SF animal cookies, wasa crackers, atkin bars, and some diet rite that seem to be helping me through my spells for the time being. Simple toast was not helping me at all and I've been eating alot of soup LOL. I sure hope you feel better, and good luck with that baby! :hug Its all totally worth it in the end. :icondance
