  • My Foodblog

    Heya All,

I did this little thing on another site I frequent where I wrote about my food/cooking for a week. I figured some of you might be interested, so I am going to post a link here.

I am currently in the final rungs of OWL, getting ready to move to PM, so, there is a lot of stuff in this that is not induction legal. I also used more low-carb convenience products in this week than I typically do, but hey, maybe it will give some of y'all some ideas.

    Here is the link:

Nullo! What a great blog!!!!!! I have just spent the last 45 minutes there--I was very impressed!! And I love the ending--you did a great job showing some folks how we really eat instead of the misinformation they get from the Media all the time! Thank you!

      Awesome food blog.

I used to be a very hardcore foodie, spent a lot of time reading foodie literature and cooking and eating. I discovered that doing this stuff was a trigger for me to overeat or to eat for pleasure rather than nourishment. So these days I either avoid it completely or read after I have eaten a healthy meal and feel quite full.

A strategy that worked for me on Induction for awhile was to make my meals feel more complete using the techniques of gourmet cooking I had learned. It stopped working so well when I found that I needed to limit my portions in order to keep losing weight.

My interest in gourmet cooking definitely helped me stay on Atkins, but I had to cut way down on this indulgence in order to continue losing weight after the first four or five months. Your personal strategy for success may differ however.

I, too, just spent quite awhile there! Great stuff!! And oh boy, those poppers looked really really good... I have to bring an Appetizer to a party this Thursday, and I think it's going to be your poppers recipe! Oven temp? Approx time to cook?

I collect hot sauces -- not a huge fan of the sauce itself (thought my appreciation is growing every time I make chicken wings and try out a new bottle) -- but for the incredible art work on the labels! A local store here, Jungle Jim's, has it's own hot sauce section with at least 2000 varities of sauces. If you're ever looking for a specific one.... let me know.

I also thought it was great the way you did the strawberry shortcake and then "Oh by the way, here's my pics"... I hope a lot of people read your blog to know it's not just meat, cheese, and eggs.

        Thanks for an entertaining afternoon,
        Joan J

Thanks. I and scott123 (from the other board) both post over there, and generally try to put out the correct low-carb info, as there is tons of misinformation floating around.

I find reading about food and cooking can trigger some cravings, but at the same time sometimes reading about it is enough that I don't have to go eat it . Plus I have just learned tons about how to put dishes together, not to mention ethnic cooking ideas from that site. Tons of great info if you poke around a bit.

I love reading about cooking and watching cooking shows too! I find it inspirational --it does not cause cravings for me but helps me come up with new menus--I look at the list of ingredients and then figure out a way to make it fit into my low carb lifestyle by substituting like you do Nullo. It is really amazing how many regular recipes can be altered just a little to make them low carb friendly! I have tons of cookbooks (not low carb ones) and I frequently flip through them looking for new ideas! It keeps this WOL interesting to try new things frequently. Thanks again for sharing that website, I'll be checking it out frequently! :yes
