It's the greatest

My new discovery is black cocoa.

Picture the colour of oreo cookies (sorry, couldn't think of another item just now).

A little goes a very long way.

Made "sugar" cookie recipe and put just a little in the batter - came out absolutely black and so cool looking. Of course, I didn't make them flat, and they looked a bit like dog droppings - but for kids, that would be the fun part.

If I make double chocolate chip cookies with the coated chips (mini m&M's or the like) - they look so cool for the kids to take to school or for parties - the coloured bits stand out against the black.

Probably awesome for Halloween, too.

Just had to share.

BTW - got mine at a health food store, and I don't know where else, except perhaps online, where you might obtain some.

I can tell your excited! I would love to try it....I googled it and there isn't much....
health food store trip tomorrow! anything that has the word cocoa in it sparks my interest

I LOVE black cocoa powder. I made spritz cookies with it at Christmas (pre Atkins) It's good stuff!! And boy is it black!

Yes - rich and wonderful. Nothing compares for taste and colour, in my opinion.

Oh, the "neon lights" cookies were an absolute hit last night at the church. I think they were the first to disappear. It's just the experience of a black cookie with all these little bits of colour that the kids (and possibly some of the adults, too) thought was amazing.

The "sugar" cookie recipe I used was from Low Carb Luxury (I only have Splenda, and not any of the other sugar alcohols, though). However, I wouldn't use the full cup of Splenda, anyway. The first time I tried, I used 3/4. The next time I used 1/2, and it was plenty sweet. I only used perhaps 1 T cocoa powder at the max. Like I said, it goes far.
