  • Flax seed?

A lot of recipes call for it, but I can't seem to find it at the grocery store... what is it grouped with? Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place. :anger I'm going to try some larger stores with more variety, but I figured I'd ask here as well. Thanks.

In my store, flax seed is found in with the health/organic/diet foods. I've also seen it in stores like GNC and local equivalents.

If you have a Wholefoods in your area they sell the seed and the meal.

I just bought some at QVC and it was with the health foods, but I have also seen it in the flour section. Bobs Red Mill also sells it online. Health food stores always have it, but I think they are more expensive.
Buy as small a quantity as you can find, making sure its as fresh as possible and then store it in the refrigerator or even the freezer. It goes rancid fast.

Open up a phone book and turn to the health food section .

Found a local health food store(Fresh Gourmet...dunno if that's a chain or not) that has it in bins(Hey! Like that candy at the super market!) for $2.09/lb!

It is even the same for the golden flax, which is usually more expensive.

golden flax is lighter in color, which I like for baking. I am not sure if it is my imagination but the brown seems harder, and grinds up coarser, which I prefer for cereal.
