I got a new car (well, new to me) and it takes a lot more gas than my old CRX so I guess I'll look for one locally! LOL It really does sound like a great tool though, I hate when the little slices of garlic get all stuck to my fingers :tounge

My favorite kitchen tool is a little Black and Decker mini-food processor/chopper. I use it ALL the time - to chop onions, peppers; to make tuna, egg or chicken salad, etc. I can't imagine hand chopping all that stuff anymore!

My absolute favorite kitchen gadget is my silicone-wrapped flat whisk. It's perfect for making pan sauces and doesn't scratch my cookware. I couldn't live without it.
Incidentally, with all the talk about garlic, I'll tell you about my favorite can't live without food item, too. I don't buy fresh garlic anymore. I hated peeling/pressing it and cleaning the gadget. My favorite food find is fresh-frozen minced garlic. They come in cubes in a little tray and each cube is 1 clove of garlic. Keep them in the freezer and pop out cubes as needed. I can't tell a difference between using the fresh-frozen or fresh, and I am very picky about my ingredients! My grocer also has fresh-frozen chives and parsley. They come in these shaker things (although I find it easier to just unscrew the top and scoop out what I need.) They thaw almost instantaneously when they leave the freezer. And again, just like fresh. For chives and parsley I find this very cost effective instead of buying fresh everytime. And about 10,000 times better than freeze-dried. You wouldn't be able to tell the difference between fresh snipped chives and the chives I use.~Shannon

Hmmm, garlic has never bugged me that much, never saw a need for a gadget for it, I just smash a clove with the flat part of a knife against a board, the skin falls right off, and if I want it fine, just dice it a bit. Saves time and cleaning by one less tool around.
Not really a cooking gadget per se, but what gets the most use in my kitchen is the cast iron skillet. You can cook almost anything in that thing, gets super hot so great for steaks and burgers to get a nice crust, easy clean up, salt it wipe it, and its done. Plus it is impossible to scratch and cheap, hard to beat.

My newest must have is my oil thermometer. Nothing ruins fried chicken or fish faster than throwing it oil thats too cold and having it get greasy or too hot and burning it.M 35 5'-5"

I love my Pampered Chef food chopper and my PC garlic press--presses the garlic through--you don't even have to peel it! I also have found my Miracle Blade knives to be pretty indispensable, especially the slicer--my old ones were more expensive, but didn't cut worth a darn!
