For fire I have to pick my Traeger grill.Erasmus

I may be old fashioned, but my big ol' iron skillet--well seasoned and too heavy for my 10 yo daughter to pick up.
I also like my Big Green Egg--although that's not technically a kitchen utencil. I love how easy it is to make smoked turkey or how wonderful burgers taste cooked in this thing!252/221/165

It is a pellet grill. It goes from hot smoke temps to grill temps. It has an pellet hopper and an auger to keep the fire going at what ever temp you want. A good brisket can take 12 hours or more to bbq. With this I can just set the Q up when I go to bed, sleep eight hours, and have nice bbq at lunch the next day.but what is a Traeger grill????? I am listening...!
Basicly, turn it on, set the temp, and put in the meat. And the you end up with very tasty real hardwood bbq. :nodErasmus

the grill sounds great ...My husband made a smoker out of a new trash can (had to say new because when he told me he was doing that I had a fit until he said "new"!!!) anyway it cost about $30 and is is amazing I even made tea smoked duck!....ok now I am curious....what is a "big green egg????".....there are so many amazing cooking tools ...I love Le Creuset it is amazing what you can do with that stuff..I made a Vietnamese Clay pot pork this past week in the dutch oven and will post the recipe as soon as I write down how I tweeked it to fit the plan....it was amazing ....alas I am still looking for the garlic slicer ...but Jerry Garcia (may he rest in peace) said "it is all about the journey"....we are going on strike next week so I will have PLENTY of time to look between picketing!!!.....

Nurselady, a big green egg is a really nice smoker/grill that is shaped like a giant green egg---I did a search on the internet for them and they cost a pretty penny!
When I was bartending I used to save all the Marlboro miles from all the customers empty cig packs, I redeemed them for a smoker--we love that smoker, my favorite thing to smoke is salmon! I'll do 6-8 pounds at a time and then freeze it--I make a killer salmon dip that everyone always requests I bring when we go to parties so I use it mostly for that. I don't eat duck, but we do smoke chickens sometimes and have done a pork roast, we are still experimenting with that smoker though so if you have any great smoker ideas please share.

smoking!
the only thing I do is always brine or make a rub for any meat or fish I smoke ...and then I mix my woods....I like 1/3 hickory, 2/3 fruit wood ...or misquite, fruit and a tiny bit if hickory....it is so good when they are mixed...and I tea smoke that is really good if you do not like duck try cornish hens or chicken tea smoked.....then I make my own sauce of course .....depending on what is on hand or what I am making ...no recipe ...just a toss together....
