  • Breakfast?

hmmmmmm I woke up and am sitting here trying to keep warm in this drafty house..

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day...what do you guys make for your breakfasts?
this is a good one for someone on OWL that is eating dairy nuts and berries

I have some Trader Joes Greek style Yogurt
    this stuff is awesome
1 cup is only 8 carbs!!!
I am going to top it with 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries and a tablespoon of pumpkin seeds
    a huge glass of water
    coffee with cream
a vitamin a calcium tablet a primrose and L-glutamine (that Barb makes me take so I do not go mental each month.... )

that should start my day with a smile and a glow...your turn

    Re: Breakfast?

Heidi, I do that with Trader Joe's greek yogurt as well: Yogurt, 1 Splenda, fresh raspberries or blueberries, and some Uncle Sam's cereal or other low carb cereal sprinkled in. Yum! That's my standard work day breakfast.

Today, I had the highly controversial (i.e. potentially carby) cinnamon bun. I make mine with 2 T butter, 1 egg, 1/2 tsp baking powder, 1 T cinnamon, 3 T ground flax, 1 T daVinci syrup, nuked together for a minute. Then I top with 2 T softened cream cheese mixed with 1 Splenda. Sooooo good. I'm completely addicted.

Heidi - The cinnamon bun is a little different than the mock danish, it actually comes out much less rubbery. But it's also carbier because of more flax and cinnamon and less eggs.

Heidi, I get it at Whole Foods! I guess Whole Foods is like our version of your Trader Joes. they have Greek and they also have Medeterranian, actually I like the Medeterranian a little bit better, it is thicker!

I was in comfort food mode this morning as I have that flu not covered in the shot hitting East Tn and a fever. I couldn't believe I was craving egg salad and peppers so I had that on Nullo Mondos flax buns with some hot tea and ice water

Breakfast: I had 3 boiled eggs.

I dream of having a Trader Joe's here in Florida. I miss it so. Where else can you get a bottle of wine for $3? such a great store. Much cheaper than Whole Foods, although Trader Joe's doesn't have the variety that Whole Foods does.

Yea, WholeFoods is way too expensive for me to do my regular shopping there! I only go there for speciality items when I want to splurge!

I'm addicted to yogurt lately! I love adding frozen blueberries then let it sit for a few mins..the frozen blueberries freeze the yogurt a bit. YUM!

For comfort food on a cold day I love to mix 3 tbsns flax, 3 tbsns oat bran, cinamon and splenda and boiling water for a hot cereal. Sometimes i add a couple of tbsn's protein powder as well. It's great with blueberries too.

My usual breakfast is an omlette, though i've been getting a bit sick of them lately (never thought i would!)

Oh Sadie, I love to put frozen blueberries in heavy cream for that same reason, they turn out like giant frozen b-b's and they are so delicious!

I've been on a HUGE flax oatmeal kick, lately. 2T flax, 1 scoop vanilla protein powder, .25t cinnamon, 1t butter, 1T heavy cream, .5cup water, nuked in the microwave for 1 minute 30 seconds. Then I mash it all up and top with .25cup of soy milk. YUM.

Breakfast...it depends on what I have in the frig and what I 'feel' like.

This morning I had some leftover 'chili' that I made from leftover roast pork and lefftover roast beef yesterday. So I nuked about 1/4 of that chili in a bowl, moved the chili to the sides of the bowl, cracked an egg into the center, then nuked it again. In 3 minutes I had something that was sort of like a "huevos rancheros".

If I have soft tofu, I make a smoothie from a ounce of it, alittle cottage cheese and some kind of fruit (if I have it).
