    Re: Brussels sprouts

The only way I know of cooking them, is to boil them.

        Re: Brussels sprouts

I've read that some folks roast them in the oven, although I've never tried them that way. I've only ever steamed them. I like them steamed with butter, vinegar and salt and pepper!

          Re: Brussels sprouts

my personal favorite is to roast them on a high temp (400-450) in olive oil and sea salt and stir every 5 minutes or so. you want to pull them out once they are a deep rich brown. they are caramilized nicely and their flavor just sweetens nicely!

              Re: Brussels sprouts

I think you can do either: leaving them whole or slicing them in half. Slicing them in half will reduce the cooking time, so that's something you might want to consider if time is an issue.

Measuring is another issue for me right now. If i slice them I can fit more in one cup too!

                    Re: Brussels sprouts

LOL. I cut mine in half. (cut through that lil doodad on the bottom so it holds together). it wont take them long dependingon size... 20 minutes perhaps. big ones take longer of course.

                      Re: Brussels sprouts

                      I -love- brussel sprouts.
I get the packaged frozen stuff, and toss them in a bowl with a few tablespoons of water and some butter and salt and pepper, and cook them for a few in the microwave. They come out -awesome- and keep pretty well for next day foodage in tupperware.

                          Re: Brussels sprouts

I love brussel sprouts. My dh still won't eat them, but I've got my super picky step-son eating them. Go figure.

Have you tried asparagus? I love roasted asparagus. Prepare it the same way you did the brussel sprouts.

How about yellow squash, I cut up some bacon and sautee it in a pan sometimes with a little sweet onion for spice. Add the sliced yellow squash and a little bit of water, cover and cook until tender. Cook zucchini the same way.

Rhinohd asked whether his recipe for brussels and pine nuts was induction legal http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ad.php?t=26380
Of course it is not as it has pine nuts, but then he adapted it using cooked bacon instead of the pine nuts.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
