  • fried cabbage recipe?

Tried to find it on the recipe list but didn't see it. Does anyone have it or a link to it? Also do you use a head of cabbage or the bag kind like you see for cole slaw mixes.

    Thanks

    do you mean

what type of fried cabbage there are several ways to fry it ..you can saute onions in butter and yes chop your own cabbage...my son's friend worked at one of the companies that does the pre chopped veggies in a bag and he told me some awful stories besides cabbage heads are sooo much cheaper!!! Cabbage is one of the cheapest healthiest foods around...just slice it up saute onions in butter oil or some bacon and then add the cabbage salt and fresh cracked pepper that is it!....is that what you were looking for?

I'll echo nurse lady and recommend buying a head of cabbage. Find the smallest head availabe. Smaller heads tend to be flavorful/more tender.

Sauted onions in butter, as nurse lady mentioned is classic. Add a little salt, some black pepper and lc pasta and you've got my favorite Eastern European dish, pierogies.

If you are going to add bacon (also delicious), why not use the leftover bacon grease to fry the cabbage?

I find I get good results with much less labor if I do a steam/boil and then fry or vice versa. I'll usually blanch my cabbage in boiling water for a few minutes and then drain well/saute in oil. OR I'll saute in oil, add a little water and then cover/steam.
