Vinegar is okay to use. Just make sure it doesn't have any added sugar. The other vinegar that isn't okay is balsamic vinegar: while most bottles don't list sugar as an ingredient, beware.

The easy answer is to check the label. If it discloses that artificial ingredients have been added, don't buy it. Unfortunately, it's not only commonplace but legal for the ingredient label to skirt the issue and completely avoid publishing the contents of the vinegar. This is because Italian law dictates that "Balsamic Vinegar of Modena"--which is how 9 out of 10 vinegars are labeled--is itself an ingredient and product, so no further description of the vinegar's contents is required. Label specifications from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration require only that the producer indicate whether or not the vinegar contains sulfites, a preservative that produces a severe allergic reaction in some people. For now, check the label. If the vinegar contains artificial color or sweetener, look further.

        vinegar ideas

this is one of my favorite condiments try saving some pretty bottles fill with rice wine vinegar (the "seasoned" one has sugar so buy the plain" the add fresh herbs (or dry if you have it) I keep one with rosemary, one with tarragon, one with hot hot peppers oh you get the idea ..you can put lemon rind or orange rind ...you are limited only by your brain!...and when you eat berries you can put raspberries in the vinegar it is wonderful
