  • Tandoori

I like to make tandoori chicken and I was wondering if I could make the marinade and then freeze the chicken in it, as you can do with so many of those "dump" chicken recipes. I make mine with sour cream instead of yogurt so I am not sure how this would freeze.

Tandoori chicken freezes best when it has some fat or oil in it. Skin-on chicken freezes better than skinless white breast meat with no fat in the sauce.

Yogurt and sour cream based sauce can come out a little funny when frozen, but again this is improved if it has some butter or oil content.

you planning to use the defrosting time as the marinating Time? if so it will work just fine with the frozen sour cream. it will seperate and look funny but the taste of your cooked chicken will be fine.

Yes exactly I figured I could save time add it all to a ziplock bag then whenever I want it let it thaw and cook...anything I can do to speed up the process. LOL

I make it with sour cream and freeze it just like you do when it cooks the stuff changes anyway so nobody will notice the seperstion it is flavor you are going for. be dure you throw the leftover marinade away so nobody gets raw ckichen bateria by mistake. Youcan put some sour cream on the table in a bowl with the tandoori spices mixed in for folks to top it off with if they need more flavor.

What time should we be there for dinner?

Are you talking about chicken tikka? Not to say that a yogurtless spiced chicken wouldn't be delicious but tikka and tandoori are traditionally both the same yogurt marinade. Tandoori is usually used to refer to the whole chicken, while tikka is pieces of chicken on skewers.
