  • imitation crab meat???

Does anyone know what the carb content is on imitation crab meat. The kind i bought was store brand and has no nutritional facts. I am seeing on the internet that it varies, so i am wondering if anyone knows off hand. I did not get my book yet, so not sure if it is in there or not.

    thanks

    Re: imitation crab meat???

It depends on what it is made with but it can be really high. I would skip it. I had some once made from surimi (which is probably what you have) and it turned out to be like 9 grams of carbs for 3 ounces. I flipped out but it was already too late.

It is due to the ingredients they use to bind it together and give it the crab look and texture. I would toss it!

thanks so much cypress. I will give it to my husband to eat at work. I did not have any yet, so that is good. Can i have sugar free jello? It has no carbs. I know that may be a stupid question, but the little food list i have says stick to the list, and of course that is not on there.

I think sugar-free Jello has aspartame in it and that is the sweetner we are supposed to avoid. If you find some with Splenda, then it falls under your three tsp of sweetner per day limit.

You can choose to have apartame if you want - it falls under thethree servings of artificial sweetener per day. A lot of us opt for Splenda when it is possible because it is made from sugar with none of the bad Dr. Atkins preferred Splenda but since Jello doesn't use Splenda....gotta do what ya gotta do!

I like my Jello with heavy whipped cream on top. I will say that I do have to limit this as I tend to get the urge to eat more than my share and that leads to cravings. But it, like anything else, has its place in this Way Of Eating!

But better yet....Whip up your heavy cream and mix in a little of the sugar free jello powder and some splenda. A spoon of that usually gets me through! It makes what my mom and I call 'Fluff'. I love the Orange and the Lime done this way!
