I have taken tomorrow off work and rain or shine or hail or whatever....I am getting my husband away from his work and to the beach tomorrow ....for a romantic picnic....I am going to make this as special as possible...he just had a great breakthrough with an invention he has worked on for months.... and it is time to break out the good stuff!!!

so far I have some great cheeses mostly creamy french goat ....I am going to do some cold home marinaged giant artichokes we can pick up some fresh dungeness crab and oysters on the way

I want to get a nice bottle of wine to go with this..I would love to try a new nice dry white to go with the oysters and crab ....they are sweet so dry white tastes so wonderful with them.......what do you guys like?

what else should I bring I wonder?

any ideas for a romantic dessert?

I am kind of tired and frazzeled right now so all help is appreciated

    Re: picnic plans

well Heidi...knowing you... AND you mentioned oysters.... Take some whipping cream for your own "coolwhip bikini" and tell hubby dessert is served

Seriously, I love fun sexy fresh fruits for desserts. mangoes, papaya, strawberries, blood oranges.... all juicy when ripe and sweet and the different textures and flavors.... oh yeah!

Wine- Im a rule breaker. I refuse to follow the 'white with seafood, chicken. reds with meats, heavy dishes' poo. Drink what you love! There is a local winery that makes a fabulous pair of reds. I will serve them with anything and everything. Crab, shrimp, oysters, heavy rare ribeyes etc etc. Drink what you and hubby LOVE.

                Dry white I love
                Giovello Pinot Grigio
i like dry reds and this is my fav white. It's in a blue bottle with a dragonfly on the label.

                Cheap but yummy wines
Luna di Luna. They're all blends, and all yum. The Pinot/Chard is nice. So is the Cab/Merlot.

Do you like German wine? Reisling is good. The brand with the nun on it is good.

Korbel Brut is a dry champagne I can tolerate. Moet & Chandon NV Brut Imperial is another that i hear is good.

Definitely fruit and cheese and wine and shellfish!
