  • question about cooking a mock danish

I don't know if I'm cooking it too long...is the mock danish supposed to have a thick texture almost like bread (no flax or anything was added).

I cook it longer because the middle takes longer to cook. Should I try cooking it in the oven for more even cooking?

    Thanks
    Lisa

I think that's the texture people are looking for when they make it.

It's supposed to taste like a danish pastry....but between you and me, I think it tastes like a sweet scrambled egg, smeared with cream cheese.

Glad I'm not the only one who think those things are nasty, Megs. I try them every once in awhile when I'm desperate and am always sadly disappionted that they are still gross.

I cook it just until it isn't liquid anymore. Try a wider container so it isn't as deep.

Re: question about cooking a mock danish

MoG, I like sweet egg dishes, like custard, but the mock danish...no way. I've tried it many ways, leaving the cream cheese "chunky" (you don't want my review of that!) and beating the cream cheese in until it's totally smooth. I figured if I was going to go through the trouble of beating the cheese until it was totally smooth, I might as well bake a proper cheese cake and use a muffin tin pan for individual cheesecakes.

I don't mind the mock danish too much, but I think it would taste better when I am allowed to have some berries to put over it.

I found these to be kind of ..well a durable food....
you literally can toss them back and forth in the yard and then when you get hungry stop the game and eat one ..that and a big glass of water and you are good to go

the are the kind of food to me that you just eat because you can get it down and it is filling....
I put some deVinci syrup in mine and tried a few flavors and they are edible but would I have them for brunch? ...nope!!!

you could take the batter and make a crepe in the skillet ..I have done that and fried in butter and rolled around a filling ....it was good
