  • Easter/Passover what is the plan?

I alway do a little of both being from a "mixed" family

but the Easter dinner is always a leg of lamb boned and the bone put back in and tied up with garlic, rosemary and black pepper then roasted to medium rare
side dishes are pending depending on what I find at the farmers market

    what are you guys having?

Re: Easter/Passover what is the plan?

    Meal with my family.

    So.....
    Lamb
    Ham
    veggies (salad and cooked)
    fresh fruit and cheese
some kind of carby side for the carby people
some kind of carby dessert for the carby people

I've been looking through various cookbooks for the veggies.

Lydia Bastianich has two recipes I would like to try. One is a cauliflower salad: steammed bite-sized cauliflower tossed with sliced hard-boiled eggs and dressed with oil and vinegar. The other is a salad made from steammed asparagus and blanched scallions also dressed with oil and vinegar. White asparagus and green asparagus is on sale at a local market this week, so I was thinking it would look pretty to use white and green asparagus in that salad.

We go out to the Chart House; it's an upscale chain in a bunch of different cities. The one in Philadelphia is right on the river and overlooks the water and has a gorgeous view and great, legal! food. My family is outstandingly predictable (and I love them for that!). Christmas, New Years, my mom's birthday all fell within 2 months so we have become very friendly with the waitstaff!

          Lol!

I don't know what I'm having for Easter. We're going to DBF's grandparents so there's always lots of different things. German and irish cooking, so I'm just going to look around and find something. There'll be a bunch of choices.

We are having a big outdoor crawfish boil, garlic, onions, sausage, weiners, celery, mushrooms, corn on the cob and potatoes all soaked down in the spicy juices. I of course will be skipping the corn on the coband potatoes but yum, yum on all the rest.

Re: Easter/Passover what is the plan?

On Sunday, DH and I are taking the inlaws to a brunch. We have been there before, so I am looking forward to poached salmon, some creation from the omelette station, sausage, bacon, roast beef, roast pork, roast turkey and veggies and salad. If I have room, I would like a nice coffee.

DH will probably have some creation from the pasta station, which was my favourite in the past, but I will do fine with the other choices.

We will go to my Mom's house and for meat she is cooking a ham and also making Cornish game hens with stuffing. She will cook WAY too much for six people and everything will be CARB LOADED!

I am taking a slaw recipe I converted, deviled eggs, and some kind of salad (not sure yet), and a chocolate pie (for my husband). So, I will eat my ham, slaw and salad and be a good little Atkins girl

I made chocolate truffles last night and OMG even knowing they were in the frig was tormenting me

I am going shopping at the market to check out the produce to see what veggie is calling for a leg of lamb

I am doing a Persian style sour cherry rice (with brown basmati this year)

I am not much of a rice eater (even before Atkins). Actually, I don't like rice or pasta. I am a fiend for white bread and Snickers candy bars. They seem to be my downfalls. I love sammys with white bread. Oh well, learning new things is always good. I will develop new tastes and habits I am sure.
