  • Dreamfields lasagna noodles

This is for those who indulge in Dreamfields every now and then, I know a lot of people don't. But I hadn't seen these in the stores in my area - it's lasagna noodles by Dreamfields! I bought a few boxes to make on special occassions, here's a link to one of the sites that sells it:

I have been emailing them for months asking if they were ever going to come out with these. I saw an ad for them just couple of weeks ago! I haven't looked for them in the stores yet though.

I wonder if they have the same blood sugar problem that the other Dreamfields pastas have if you overcook the noodles (and with something baked like lasagna, the noodles are typically overcooked...unless you are a superb lasagna cooker!)

probably the best way to avoid this is to make the lasagna where you don't cook the noodles before layering them. I personally have not tried this but know of a few people who do make them this way.

I've tried that! Its horrible! If you do it, you better put a truck load of sauce in the lasagna! It soaks up all the moisture...ick.

Heidi, I haven't tried the lasagna ones but I eat the spaghetti noodles occassionally, you can't tell any difference from regular spaghetti....but that is what scares me about them!

Haven't had the lasagna ones, but my mom used the macaroni in her macaroni salad and I made a box of the penne for my family with chicken stew (I passed on the noodles myself) but they seemed to love them.

I get them next week so I'll have to let you know. I've had the other varieties and they taste just like regular pasta so hopefully these will be good too. I'm excited to get them since my friends and I are having a little Iron Chef dinner party next weekend with the "secret" ingredient being cheese, so I want to make a lasagna for my dish. I'm thinking a white lasagna with a garlic cream sauce, tons of different cheeses, roasted chicken and BACON! Kind of a lasagna carbonara?

                I must win.... I must win..... !!!

                    Re: Dreamfields lasagna noodles

Pre-atkins, I used to make Lasagna in the Crock Pot. You do NOT cook the noodles. You break the noodles up into pieces that will fit in the pot. I make it just like normal lasagna, and I used 2 jars of sauce. The noodles cook to perfection!! My whole family, and the people I used to work with would beg me to make this!!! It was a huge hit at every work potluck. It is so darn easy, much easier than regular lasagna. I bet it would work with that Dreamfields. I really don't miss pasta, so it isn't an issue for me. I was thinking about making it with eggplant as the 'noodle', but haven't really done much but think about it! LOL
What would we do without it?
