So I made a lovely salad for dh and I for lunch today (made it last night). It is basically a bed of lettuce with some cooked chicken thrown on top and some cut up hard boiled eggs. I threw some mushrooms in at the last minute and some tomato into mine. So dh calls me and says the eggs are all gray and moldy and disgusting. They were beautiful last night - not even any gray around the yolk or anything. So I went to look at mine (he always eats his lunch in the morning - I wait till lunchtime) and it seems that wherever a mushroom is touching an egg it looks dark gray and moldy. Is it possible that mushrooms can make eggs go moldy?? Or is it just some weird discoloration?? To be honest, it really looks nasty and I'll probably chuck those egg quarters out.
Has anyone heard of this?? Is it okay to eat those eggs? What do you think?
