I always thought the Knorr was OK.But now you have me wondering. I just checked I don't have any on hand. BUT I am going to the grocery store soon LOL

I tried to find out from their website but they say that ingredients change periodically so they don't have any info, now that's weird! Yea, if you do check it out please report back!

Now, did any of these say whether the raw was measured as level cups or not, and whether they were packed? And was water included in the frozen package weight?

OK, the frozen spinach I bought today has the ingredients listed as: SPINACH. Nothing else, no added water.
So, tomorrow I am going to cook up my 9oz bag of fresh spinach and the frozen and see how it compares. I am starting to think that 9oz of spinach is 9oz of spinach LOLOL.

(I'm gonna go blind reading this, so excuse the typos please)

Barb when you cook down your raw stuff you lose water. when they freeze their stuff the water in the spinach leaves leaks out but is still in your box. if you defrost it and squeeze the water out like we do to make creamed spinach you will see it becomes much smaller like a cooked down bunch of fresh does. I can cook 1.5 cups of fresh and end up with .25 cups with the water squeezed out.

I understand that 2big, I have been using frozen spinach for years as well.
But according to my 9oz bag of fresh spinach it is 12 cups fresh. so in theory the 12 cups fresh should end up being 2 cups cooked. right? (Using your 1.5cup to .25cup formula)
I'll let ya know what happens.

OK, the project:

The frozen cooked and not drained yet

The fresh cooked and not drained

10 oz Frozen squeezed out. Full 1/2 cup

9oz Fresh. Just shy of 1/2 cup

Soooo. I would say that 9oz of spinach is 9oz of spinach! LOL.
My whole reasoning behind this was that I had a recipe that called for a box of frozen spinach and I only had a bag of fresh. I thought I would need a couple bags of fresh at least to be equivalent. So, now! I am making mini quiches!! You guys coming over for breakfast????

I know I buy this ridicuoulsy large bag of spinach--when I cook it I get like 2 servings out of it---k- I guess I'm a pig for spinach!
