    Re: Jacques Pepin

Jacques Pepin is a great chef! I love his shows because he shows cooking technique so you can learn to cook just by watching his shows (like Julia Child and Lydia Bastinich).

He was born in France and apprenticed there. During the early 60s he immigrated to the US (worked for Pierre Franey, who used to be the head chef at Maxim's in Paris). Anyhow, he considers himself to be an American chef (with a French background/training) and even says his cooking isn't really "French" anymore because his cooking has evolved away from classic French.

I also met him at a book signing about 4 years ago---super nice guy!

      Re: Jacques Pepin

I think I just love chefs/cooks in general... my DH has been to gourmet school and runs a catering business on the side. A man who can cook is a sexy man indeed.

That said, I think I'm going to check out some of Pepin's cookbooks at the bookstore.
No stats. Not weighing anymore ever. Will post "before and after" pictures when I want to. The end.

      Vigilance, not perfection.

His last book Fast Food My Way has some really great low carb recipes/ideas, though they aren't labelled "low carb". I tried the cream salad dressing and it worked out perfectly---super easy too: beat heavy cream until it's just foamy, stir in vinegar and herbs, pour over salad or use as a sauce for fish or chicken.
