  • Hard boiled eggs

I have a quick question about hard boiled eggs. How many days are they ok to eat after they have been boiled?

2 - 3 would probably be ok. Maybe longer, but personally I havent ever left them longer than 2 days.

If you leave the shells on and put them in the fridge they should be OK for 4 days or maybe more.

I've eaten them over a week old with the shells left on. Tasted the same. No ill effects.
What is it, a RACE? It's coming off, right????

                Re: Hard boiled eggs

I agree with the ones who say a week. At easter we always make at least 2 dozen eggs and we eat them for at least a week afterward (refrigerated of course).

                  Re: Hard boiled eggs

Thanks everybody! That's great news about them being good for a week. Now I can hard boil a dozen at a time and save myself some work without having to worry about throwing them out.

Here's a website that says a week. (scroll down to the little chart)

Hum, that site has some good tidbits of info...did you know this?

                      CHALAZA
                      • A pair of spiral filaments which keeps the yoke in the center of the thick albumen
                      • The fresher the egg, the more visible are the chalazae
                      • Invisible when the egg is cooked
