  • Using a Dehydrator

I have just 'won' a dehydrator on Ebay which came with a very sparse set of instructions and recipes.

Does anyone use one and what do you make with it?

    Any good lowcarb recipes?

oh eli, how sparse are the instructions?

i have one and i never use it. i wish i could just send the instuction booklet. i wouldn't mind sending it if you would pm me an address. i could even copy it, i have a copy machine here. it would be no problem at all!

I have a friend that makes jerky (turkey, beef, deer) with his. I always made apple and banana chips with mine, but that isn't really carb friendly.

        I have one.
We made jerky on it,but I like the jerky better on the smoker.
I also dried some fruit. That was pretty good. Takes forever though! LOL.
Other than that it has sat in my closet.

            Re: Using a Dehydrator

I've been thinking of getting another one, had one years ago. I loved making beef jerkey and venison jerky on it. Cracked black pepper...yum!

I've also wondered about drying vegetables too....to make like veggie chips. I'd think zucchini and squash, maybe sweet potato, or some of the other types of squashes, seasoned would make nice dried chips. You could mix some of the meat jerky and the veggie jerkies with nuts too to make a nice trail mix.

I have one and I love it! I make beef jerky. I make "sun" dried tomatos. I dry my herbs in it. I make jerky for the dog too, that way I know there is nothing in it but meat. I've dried fruit in it as well. I mostly use it for jerky though!
