what name brand do you use of tomatoe sauce and tomato paste that has the lowest carbs? Is there a web site that would tell me the lowest carb canned items? any info appreciated!

I'd say you're just going to have to go to the grocery store and stand there and read them all. I've found that the 'store' brands don't have added sugar whereas the 'name' brands do sometimes.

That's interesting, I have always found generic brands to be more likely to not have sugar as well. wonder why?

Canned organic tomatoes seem to have more fiber, hence fewer net carbs Does that help.

Jen, I have no clue...but I've learned to go for the generic brands first. Maybe with less ingredients, it costs less to produce??

Anyway, at this point, plain canned tomato sauce is soooooooooooo sweet to me that I can't imagine eating the brands with sugar added!! And sad to say, but we'd get the stuff home and add MORE sugar to it!!! YUCKO!

Tomoato sauce is something I havent had in 2.5 years due to the amount of added sugar. I think Lynne made the best point. Buy canned tomatoes and make your own.

I use Hunt's! You have to remember when you read the label that under the nutritional values it will list sugars, you have to check the actual ingredients to see if those sugars are added sugars or if they are just the natural sugars from the tomatos.
