  • I came home and found an abandoned

shopping bag of zucchini on my doorstep!

That pesky phantom zucchini grower is working the neighborhood again this year. lol. Seriously, it's the family that lives 2 doors away. This is their typical MO.

So, I got a load of zucchini to use or give away.

I'm glad it was zucchini and not a baby.

I used to have a neighbor like that. I loved her!! I'd come home and find all kinds of goodies from her garden. I miss her.

I used to have a friend when I lived in Hawaii that would leave a grocery bag full of avocados on my door step! Man do I miss that! Only problem was that a grocery bag is a LOT of avocados! And they ripen so fast!

There's nothing really that can be done with avocados to preserve them, is there? Can they be frozen if you're going to make guacamole? Seems like they would discolor.

I used to put ripe Avo's in the fridge to keep them longer, but it doesn't make them last that much longer.

I would slice them and eat them with salt and pepper for every meal. Make guacamole out of some of them. Some I would slice and put on my hamburgers with bacon and cheese ( I love that combo ).

My experience with doing that is that they turn black/brown inside...ick! If you make them into guacamole and then stick the seed in the middle of the bowl did you know it will help keep the guacamole from turning color? Of course you can slice them and drizzle them with lemon or lime juice and that does the same thing.

Oh my, I think we highjacked Meg's zuccini thread! Sorry Megs.

Yep, I did know that about the pit, and the lime or lemon juice.

I love avo's. I like them with anything and everything.
