  • Gimme yer Nuts..

I have 5 pecan trees in the new yard and was just given a huge bag of shelled walnut halves. I have also been saving the almonds out of the trail mix (hubby's lunch, he don't dig on the almonds) and have over a pound. Let's get up a nut recipe thread before the holidays start. Roasted, spiced, mixed in salads, sauted, stir-fried, whatever blows yer skirt up. I will start...

    Curried Black Walnuts

    1/2 lb Black Walnuts
    2 tbsps butter
1 tbsp yellow Indian style curry powder (I use McCormicks fancy pants stuff in the bottle)
    a sprinkle of splenda

I melted the butter and curry and splenda in a large frying pan and added the nuts. Roast on low until the entire house smells like curried black walnuts or the butter is absorbed. Stir constantly to prevent burning. Cool and store in airtight container. These are rockin'! Even better after they have set for a few days!

Who's gonna gimme their nuts next??

If you have a crockpot, "roast" the nuts in that. I posted a thread about crockpot nuts a few months ago.

Seriously, that is probably the best way to cook nuts without having them burn and without having to stand next to the stove stirring them.

                  Re: Gimme yer Nuts..

Ye I found it yesterday. Im not keen on the idea of savoury nuts tho. I could cook them in butter and sprinkle some splenda on them when they are done?

                  Not allowed nuts yet tho...
